Can anyone tell me where I might find/buy a control valve meeting the following specs? I need a single spool, open center, double acting valve with adjustable relief pressure that will go down to 900-950 psi. I am trying to run a set of remotes on a tractor (wrong color) that didn't come with any. Thanks for any help.

They have a pretty good selection of hydraulic stuff. I didn't look for your specific ones but I would assume that they would have what you need.

I was on there earlier and the only one I could find (link below) is a 2 spool made for loader opperation. I was kind of thinking I could make it work by just using one spool because other than the two spools the specs are perfect. http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=9-7401&catname=
Would this work?

I would think that you could get it to work but I'm sure there are others that are much more familiar with what you are trying to do than me.

Surplus center has the part. You can assemble a single valve from parts, takes three, the input section with pressure relief valve, the control valve, and an outlet section. I'm surprised they don't have a single valve.
Baum Hydraulics has sectional valves as well as single section valves. Don't bother with their search engine, down load the section of the catalog with hydraulic valves and look at it off line. Last I looked Surplus Center had one of the two brands of sectional valves sold by Baum. Shoup www.shoupparts.com and other vendors also have a wide variety of new control valves, as well as Northern Tool and some will have a pressure relief adjustable down to 1000 PSI. Gerald J. |

You can use a valve with a higher or no relief by putting another releif valve in front of it.
Some of the valve have adjustable releifs.

In the new 2012 Surplus Center catalog that arrived here last week, they do have a separate adjustable relief valve that can be adjusted from 500 to 1500 psi. They do have several single spool valves with pressure relief valves built in that only turn down to 1500 psi, usually set for 2000 psi. They do have the sectional valves but apparently no input section with pressure relief that can be turned down to 900 psi.
They have log splitter valves with automatic release detents that can be set to under 1000 psi but that's no protection for a heavy hand on the valve. If the tractor has internal hydraulics, are you sure there is no internal relief valve already? Gerald J. |

I did a little more research on the tractor and found out that the latter models like I have, have an internal relief valve that has an increased pressure of 1040-1080psi. The point where I will be tapping into though is between the pump and the three point control that has the reliefe valve. I did some looking and calling to the sources that you listed and found a prince monoblock like the log splitter types that has a spring return and is adjustable down to 1000psi which I think should work. If the tractor came with a 1040-1080 internal relief valve the 1000psi setting should be fine shouldn't it? I ask because they said they could sell me the three different parts and get one that would be adjustable down to 500psi if I wanted but it is $110.00 more than the momoblock. Thanks for the links. |

Get a control valve with an internal check valve. A logsplitter valve wont have an internal check valve.

So long as you T into the line, the pressure relief valve with the lowest setting will be the limit. You don't need to block the line to the tractor's internal valve to use the external valve. Then a higher pressure relief valve will work fine for the new remote valve.
