I am in the process of getting ready to have my D-17 diesel tractor shipped here in the next couple of weeks and I know it has either one intake or exhaust valve sticking open so I was wondering being I know that my Uncle has not done a motor job on this tractor in about 10 years give or take would it be best to do one now being I need to do a quick valve job anyways or just get the valve that is sticking moving freely again and just work it for the summer to get the bugs out of it being it has sat for about 2 years?

My old daddy always said, "do it right the first time", and over the years I have found this to be the cheapest in the long run !!!

I guess that depends. Are you aware of any other problems. Personally I would pull the valve cover and free up the valve. If the valve is burnt, which is easy enough to check, then I would pull head and go from there. My 2 cnts

Thanks, my dad and I talked today about it and decided to just free up the stuck valve and run it for a while and mabe later on in the fall if it does need a motor job, do it then. But for now he said lets just get it running the way it should again.
