Do any of you guys know wheteher a b will operate a square baler last year I used my brotherinlaws. 45 but now that I have my b operational im curious

First question is what make and model baler are you using? The first thing that I think would be a problem is how fast 1st gear on a B is, at 2.75 your windrows would have to be pretty thin. I think a B would run a average square baler as long as it doesn't have a kicker. I'm sure someone else will chime in!

I used the CA on a 14T once but Dad didn't like to use it. Flat ground and small windrows you might be OK. With no hand clutch and a higher low gear it won't be much fun.

We used or C on a NH 268 once. we needed to finish a small field and our WD was not usable. the windrows were medium and we left the wagon and droped the bales on the ground. I would not want to do that normaly. That field only had about 100 bales on it but it was twice the work of our normal operation.

Last year I put up only 250 bales at most with all the trouble I went through makes me wonder why I keep a couple horses lol so volume is small just wondered if it was capable of it without going bald

Wish I made more money to buy more toys aka tractors maybe one of these days I can afford a 45 and not worry about using a little tractor for more than the yard and garden work

i have used my D14 and a 303 AC bailer it works ok on flat ground but will push you on steep ground the WD45 or D15 ser 2 works alot better. i would say if you have flat ground you may get away with it but not on hills. good-luck Tom

I used my D15 on my 37 baler, and it has a kicker on it and a wagon behind. Handled it just fine. I would think your B might handle it if the ground is level and no kicker, but like everyone said the windrows better be small. I don't know about your 37 but mine doesn't handle a really big windrow anyways, as for some reason it will mistie bales if I'm loading it too fast. If I slow down or have smaller windrows, it never misses a knot.

The B is a tough little tractor but I would not want to put one in front of a square baler. A WD with the extra weight and power plus the hand clutch would work much better.

If the baler has it's own engine, it will work just fine; otherwise you're asking too much of that little tractor!

We had a NH 268 with a Wisconsin on it which we pulled with a Case VA, roughly equivalent to a B. Worked great until the Wisconsin started throwing spark plugs across the field. But thats a different problem

When I was a junior in high school I worked on a ranch (3.00 a day/room & board) and we put up about 40 acres prairie hay for our horses. We hired a crew to bale our meadow and they came out with an H Farmall and a new JD baler, which had a V-4 Wisconsin engine on it for power. Best I recall, that baler spit those bales out the side, and it did a good job, which is more than I can say for that old H. To shorten up the story, the H spit the bits, and to try and finish the meadow, we hooked our C model Allis to that sled of a baler and finished the job, but we had to hang a bunch of RR iron on the front to keep the nose down, but it did save the day !!! That JD baler was sure heavy....

my dad still uses the self propelled new Holland baler and pulls it with his b it works fine but it is fun watching him try to pull 200 bales up the back hill after words little tractor sure try's hard but it is a losing battle. its just to light, The d 15 always gets hooked to it in the end to get it up the hill he cuts all his hay yet with a c allis and a side mount sickle mower it is a lot of fun to go over and help out those old tractor just keep going and going i seen a B allis that was so hopped up at a pull once that the wheel broke off the side of the tractor when he went to take off not sure if it was faulty wheel lugs or too much horse power but may be some thing to consider when pulling with your B and how much it could handle would hate to hear about your wheel breaking off out in the field when your trying to bale with her.

That makes me laugh it wouldn't be the first time I had a wheel come off on this one I was probably 12 and grandpa had a christmas tree farm so we kept the rows mowed out all pretty one day going down through there the tractor fell in a hole I thought til I got off grandpa just looked at me and said BOYS

The lack of the hand clutch and too few HP. I pulled an older NH66 with my VAI Case, about the same size as a B, and it was hard on the tractor. The rebuilt motor in the Case just didnt have the nuggets over about 75 bales on the wagon. If ya had a bunch of wagons you could just put 50 or so bales on each one, but that still doesnt help if your windrows are too big, as in first cutting. Give it a try or better yet... use it to pull the rake!

Here are a few pictures of my "CA" making hay. I mow with a model #80 7' sickle, AC hay conditioner, #77G rake & #303 baler.
The "CA" can handle it all even on rugged terrain. You may not be able to see it in the pictures but the field is on a farly steep hillside. We use caged racks so the bales don't fall off and we can load them up with 165 bales.
Not sure if a "B" would do well with less HP & faster ground speed.

I baled a lot of hay with a CA and a MF #10 baler. The CA is a bit bigger but not that much, but the baler might be a bit lighter then an IHC.
Some neighbors baled hay for years with an IHC B and an old, old NH engine powered baler. Don't remember seeing it work as by the time I was old enough to get around the country much they had gotten a Fordson Major and converted the baler to PTO.

Well im betting this summer I will have an answer to the question because to me with all the answer it looks possible just going to be slow keep the rows thin and try lol it might or might not but im gonna see just for fun all the same
