On the 52 ca we are restoring we put on a new head gasket and when we put anti freeze in it it started leaking. We torqued the head bolts to what the book said to torque the. To.

Was there problems with the head gasket on these like there was the wc??

should we put two gaskets on it?
What should we do?

Are you stating that without the engine running, i.e. first time you poured coolant in, haven't even started the tractor yet?

Did you have the block decked or the head surfaced.

If the about is a true assumption you either have a really bad head gasket, or a gouge in the surface of the head or block somewhere or the coolant is leaking from somewhere else and it's showing up at the block/head area.

As long as the head was torqued, and the gasket was of good quality, you should not be leaking coolant.

I have never heard of running two head gaskets, I would be shocked if it would work at all, not to mention the extra valve train adjustment required.

Could be that it's a soft plug that is leaking?

I have never heard of a problem with WC head gaskets. Putting 2 in will just add to your problems. Find the real cause.
Did you look at the core plugs on the top of the head? I seriously doubt a warped head would let the coolant through without starting the engine but I guess anything is possible.
Anyway, first thing to look at is the core plugs in the top of the head. If one is leaking, you can plane all you want and it won't fix the leak. Charlie

Don't know about WC's but on BE/CE/RC engines they use 2 head gaskets to change the compression ratio for different altitudes. Even so, 1 gasket should always seal just fine.
