I know this isn't orange, but yesterday my 87 year old father in law was able to drive his 1945 Farmall H again. He purchased it new after the war, and farmed until 1998. He still owns a 6080, which took the place of his 185. He sold it to his nephew around 6 years ago, who restored it and was kind enough to bring it back to the farm.

Very cool. I always wonder if after that many years, if you have to remember what does what on one of your first tractors, or if it was so engraved into your head, you jump back on and go, just like you did 50 years ago.

Tell your father in law to enjoy it!
I bought my Grandfather's (who I never met as he passed long before I was born) M this spring at my late Uncle's sale. I had to ask the fellow who bid against me how to start it, LOL, as I have never been around red tractors of that vintage. I paid way too much for it but it is the only thing I have from any of my grandparents. Many times over I ask myself why it is in my house garage and my truck sits in the driveway and why did I buy a gas tractor that gets used very little. I was able to get a picture of my Dad driving it to move a fertilizer spreader this spring and the look on his face told me it was worth every penny I paid for it.

The fellow who did the restoration built a ramp so we could wheel his chair up to the seat, and he and my brother in law rode with him. Poppa pushed the starter, fired her up, and drove in second gear. His only complaint was they wouldnt let him go faster! He told me hepurchased a baler the folowing year, and custom bailed enough hay to buy a new car.

Hope poppa get lot mor tracto time. I'd love to get my fatherpinplaw''s old AC and restore it. He alwas thought AC's were the top of the line. Unfortionatly he sold it when they moved from Illinois to florida. Like poppa, he bought his right after the war and farmed with it untill 1966 when his wife got the fits to move to Florida. I'd have said you can go I'm staying here. PawPaw is 89 and fading.
