I'm new to this site but have to say it looks awesome. I just aquired a 333 notill special planter with the 78 planter units. Planter is a great shape everything seems to be functioning properly. I plan on adding depth guage wheels to the units. I may have to fabricate some the parts if I can't find them through a dealer but I beleive it will be well worth it.  I was also thinking about adding the seed packer wheel directly behind the openers as well. Anyone ever use these before and if so are they worth it? What style coulter do you prefer to run? It currently has the 8 wave 2" wide blades but they need to be replaced. If you have any other tips or tricks for setting up these planters or tweeking to improve performance I would appreciate you input.

I bought a new 333 No-Til special when they were first introduced. It also had the 78 units. I added the depth gauge wheels and seed firming wheels and they worked great. For No-Til applications, the seed firming wheels are a must for good seed-to-soil contact. As for the coulters,I went with the 1" wide wavy. They don't "throw" as much soil as the 2" ones, especially at faster ground speeds in damp soil. It was a great planter and a pleasure to use.

I have one I've used for a few years but got a Deutz-Allis planter (385) and now use that.  The 333 with 78 planter units is a good planter.  The only thing I really didn't like about it was that if you road it it wobbles because it's tail heavy.  It's also harder to adjust than the 385 but still a good planter.

J&J sales , Glasgow Ky usually has some of these items.  Ask for Joe - and be patient :-)
we might have a few odds and ends if you get to the point of missing a few things to completing your project.  Search the archives as these units and upgrades to them can yield a great planting unit - as well as prevent some problems they can have.
