Switched D14 over to 12 volt finally quit burning up voltge reg. It still is charging to hi, 15 volts, could I be turning gen. to fast? Wide open it is about 2550 gen. pulley speed but I don't know if that matters or if that is about right. Any informtion would be helpful.

Try the info under this site for generators , it is a Chevy page but covers most Delco charging systems as well as starters.

Your charging 15 volt, how many amps are you getting?
What is the condition of your battery?.
I tested my friends 6 volt ford 1 wire generator the other day and he was getting 15 volts out of it, but with a fully charged battery he was not showing any movement on the amp meter.
Your voltage regulator regulates both voltage and current output. Bob

If your Alternator's output is above 14.5 its in an overcharge mode. First thing to check is the Battery. Make sure it draw tests okay and is not sulfating to where its loading the Alternators regulator. Normal charging rate is 13.9-14.5V. Ideal is 14.2. If its above or below, there's a problem on board somewhere... HTH

Are you sure that it was 6 volt and I've never seen a 1 wire generator, I've seen a 1 wire alternator but I don't know of a 6 volt alternator. If you have a 6 volt battery and is charging at 15 volts that is way over charging. Most of the 6 volt systems that I've worked on only has about 7 volts when working at about 1000 to 1200 rpms.
