What is the distance from the outside of each of the rear tires (not hubs) on a WD45 and a CA?
I'm trying to find out if I can culitvate one row at a time without spaceing the rows too far apart.

Minimum tread width for a CA is 52"
Minimum tread width for A WD45 is 56"
you will need to add the tire width to this to get outside tire width.
I have no way of knowing what size tire you have.
If your running more that one size over stock you can't get the minimum width
as the tires will rub the fenders.

Inside width would be the same or perhaps a little less, Dave. The outside width would be greater, of course.

Ok thanks guys. I would think that a WD45 would be just too big to do garden work. But a CA would nimble enough to do the job!
Buy any chance you guys know how high the snap coupler bell is off the ground?

I would think either one would be easy to do 1 row at a time with? The wd45 would be easier to watch the row, A narrow front wd45 will just as easy to turn around with vs a CA

R.W., you should get that B on the classifieds with all of the implements that's in Ohio. It should be a fun little project and you won't have to hunt around for cultivators, plow, etc. separately.

How could you cultivate one row at a time with a narrow front? It would crush the plants.

That one is just not for me. Maby if it didn't have bald tires and the hydraulics were working I would think about it.

fixing them is half the fun, you could probably find a decent set of used tires if you didn't want to get new ones and winters here so you would have time to work on it

Just saying. You're probably going to end up paying that much for one with a decent set of tires and cultivators - and then you won't have the weights and other implements.

I don't have a heated place to work on one. And it needs to be ready to cultivate come spring. And that one is 4 hours away.

A CA was really meant to cultivate 2 rows, not one. It is an excellent 2 row cultivating tractor (especially with the narrow front). At the time the CA was made, 40 inch rows were standard. To cultivate two 40-inch rows the rear tires go to maximum spacing. I'm guessing you could make one work down to maybe a 30 inch row.

Not if you run the row between your right front wheel and your right rear wheel. Pretty simple, then you don't have to reinvent the cultivator and you don't have to worry about how low the Snap Couple bell is cause it isn't in the row.
