Hey there.
I have a WD45 that is pulling VERy well.
It's still weathered and I am planning to paint it this winter. My original idea was to reverse the white and orange colors, but someone in our club has a white tractor. It looks really good with white hood, tank, fenders, and front end. The block, frame, axles are all orange. So with that scheme taken, anyone have any suggestions? I want something different than the OEM paint scheme. Since the Redskins have been playing so poorly, I've decided against a Redskins paint scheme. Thanks in advance.

Anybody can do as they please but there isn't any better looking WD45 than one painted up nicely in original colors. I've seen pullers painted all kinds of colors some luck good some luck bad.

That WD looks just like the puller I had. Rolled finals, diesel gauges, 38" rubber. Did you build it or buy it? |

I built it had Phil Brown "D17Brown" do most of the work. it is a diesel rear end and a custom huvelton tin shop hood with a diesel gauge pod. Stock Gleaner E motor. final drives are in stock location. HAs done well for me this year. unbeaten in the 3800 # class. putting 30 to 50 feet on the other tractors at that light weight class.

Paint it silver and black, like a Gleaner. Galvanized paint on the hood, radiator, fenders and gas tank. Wheels, engine, transmition orange. Rails, battery box, possibly the fenders black.

An AC at Hutchinson used Gleaner silver on the wheels and it looked GREAT! Maybe Gleaner silver on the tins, and Corp Orange on the frame, engine, trans, etc.

Instead of white how about painting it more of a cream color with blue wheel hubs, orange wheels, mabe other blue accents like the seat and front grill mesh. Then finish it off with a set of nice die cut blue long A long S hood decals like the ones for a styled WC. You could switch it around with orange grill mesh, blue wheels w/ orange hubs, etc. Have fun with it! Kip

There was nothing White on a WD45. I'm kinda partial to the original ORANGE but like a fellow said, to each his own. |

Sounds like your fellow club member maybe borrowed his paint scheme from the AC 300-400 series L&G tractors. I bet it does look pretty cool. I also like Dans 7080's paint scheme on his WD45 though I think more gloss on the black would look better. Maybe take some cues from other ACs. I wouldn't do it to mine but I think I for one could appreciate a well done maroon belly WD45. You could also go old school like the first ACs-that deep green with yellow(I believe) pin stripes is very sharp looking when done well.

If you use the Gleaner colors, you could call it the "Meaner Gleaner"

OK, I thought the finals looked rolled by the way the tractor was sitting on 38"s. For what it's worth, It really helped my tractor by rolling the finals one hole. Only mod you have to do is drill a new brake pin hole. The extra wheelbase seemed to help and it also helps leveling the tractor out with 38"s. Edited by m16ty - 07 Nov 2011 at 8:12pm |

The local clubs rotating the finals is illegal. I saw one with it's finals turned in Rice Lake Wi. tractor pull. I think he won the stock class. I had these 38" and they put me in a open modified class. Did surprisingly well. Got two second places. power track and everyone was poping up the front end. I put a couple hunderd extra pounds out front and keep the front end down.

I have an E-3 Coop. I don't pull it but hope to take it on tractor rides. I would like to paint it something a little different than the stock Coop orange. I like the idea of you painting it something different. I like to see some creativity...I think I saw a photo of the AC in reverse..white and persian orange. It is kind of neat...can see it here: http://www.antiquetractorpullguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Testimonial_Graphic-1024x800.jpg">click here

Sheetmetal and fenders Corp or PO2 orange, Engine, drivetrain and frame gloss black, wheels silver. Looks good with factory or custom decals, a litte chrome or polished stainless steel or aluminum sets it off to.

Dave in Il, I'm not sure about that combo. I see the one with the flat black, and just not sure I like that. Gloss would look TOTALLY different, but I'm not sure "how" different.
At least with black, oil leaks wouldn't show as bad!!
