I recently tracked down one of the "hay rake and tedder" rakes with the 3 speed gear box and chain drive to the basket. From what I have been able to learn from my AC bllk library it has the optional dual ground wheels on it. I was wondering if anyone else had run across many of these rakes or had info on them. It is the only one like it i have seen as of yet. Thanks for your help.

I've got one. I bought it from a neighbor about 12 to 15 years ago. His dad had bought it brand new, and I got the original operators manual with it. Paid $125 for it. I never used until this last summer, when a hobby farmer friend talked me into getting it going so he could use it. We greased it up, put a new chain on it, and away it went! I was mildly impressed with it! The gearbox was froze in high, until after haying season, my friend said he fiddled with it and got it to shift. To late to try out the low and reverse by then, though. Darrel

Remember as a kid you could not go down the road in high gear with the WC the crazy wheel would dance all over the place.

Took some pics out in the dark tonight, hope they turn out.
Overall, it should not be too hard to make. Its basically an enclosed "V" shape, with the end rounded over with a 2" or 2 1/4" radius.
![]() ![]() This is a measurement of the total height of the open trough end.
![]() ![]() Total length
![]() Radii end, and the radius
![]() ![]() Width of the trough O.D.
![]() ![]() ![]() There is one bracket inside the metal sheild, about mid way up.
You can see the chain, resting on the round bracket. Its about 3 3/4" down from the top (See the first picture again). Edited by Don(MI) - 13 Dec 2011 at 7:08pm |
