I found this pic on the 'net. Has anyone seen this tractor in person and maybe have pics on how they did this? it sure raises my curiosity.

Bet it's a military front end but how would you match gear ratios? Unless it's just for looks.

That is a strange little critter! Looks good though. I wonder if it may be on the other side of the pond from us?
See a Field Marshall next to it. Those aren't real common here. Several things different about that B, besides the obvious addition of a front live axle.
Notice the shield over the magneto.
There's also a second "starter tank" in front section of the hood.
The temp gauge has a shiels or something around it.
It has a non-electric toolbox.
The standard instrument panel is missing. Looks like something is there, but mounted lower.
There is some sort of linkage in addition to the brake pedals, that goes down to the sub-frame.
I would love to see the rear of that thing. I wonder how they tied in the front axle?
They would have to have gotten power from the output shaft before it got to the pinion gear for the rear axle, in order for the speeds to work right with the tranny. I have been pondering how to do it on a C myself. Thought that would be a neat little machine to take to shows, if nothing else. Just haven't figured out how to get the power from the tranny to the front axle yet. If I did it, I would definitely want power steeering with those tire on the front. I wonder if that's what the front tank is for?
Could be that this is a conversion from County or Roadless Traction over in the UK. They made FWD conversions for a lot of machines. Could also be a one-off from someone's private shop. Either way, i'd like more info on it.

Take a like rear end from another tractor and drive it from the driveshaft using a direct ratio. That should work, though on a typical 4wd the fronts drive a few percents faster than the rear.

The Rear and Front wheels are the early B type used with the splined 5 stud adapter hubs. This is definity one strange little B for sure. Photos from several different angles would be helpful.

The axles look like they might meet in the middle then using a differential to drive the front end. This would allow you to match gear ratio between the front and the back and still have all gears. No sure why there are three shafts from the rear to the front. Maybe the middle one is the drive shaft and the outside two are holding the front end in place.

That looks like the front out of an M-37 (Dodge Power-Wagon). They were 6.77:1 ratio as-shipped.
If I were doing that, I would've geared it however I could, and then found the closest matching tire-size to equate to a common ground speed.
Now, it LOOKS like the rears are using the same setup- perhaps the M37 rearend is stuffed between the original wheel castings (and the bull gears have been nixed).
Problem with running that big'a tire, is that it cramps the turning circle. Also, the battery platform eats up all the ground-clearance.

Could the FWD be drivin off the B PTO output shaft like a B sickle mower. Probably chain drivin and not by a belt pully. Front wheel drive axle from most any sub compact could possibly be adapted. Something like the front axle on my MF 1260. Like gearing front to rear will be important.

The problem with using the PTO is that you could only get one of your tranny gears to match up with the PTO driven front end, I think? The tranny will change the speed of the rear axle but the rpm of the motor controls the speed of the front.

Norm, what is the second starter tank used for on yours? My power unit is a kero but it only has one small starter tank, not two.

You said you had a PU set up like the tractor shown. The tractor shown has 2 starter tanks.

That tractor is in England, the picture is taken at the Great Dorset Steam Fair. the front axle is landrover series 2 and the drive is taken from the PTo shaft. it is infact Gas/Kerosene, the rear small tank is for gas starting and the front tank is a rover car power steering box driven frum the magneto drive.
