ON the left (as you are seated) side of the tractor, where the torque tube, and the engine meet, on the bell housing

D 19's serial number is on the top of the rear end housing behind the seat on the right side as you look forward toward the radiator.

My bad, I thought all the D series except the 21 had the s/n there. Sorry.

Yes it was on top of the rear end housing behind the seat. Thank you. I am the proud owner of D19 # 6674.
I just got this tractor and did some immediate repairs, new exhaust manifold and gasket. Muffler and rain cap. Full fluid change that showed me the leaks that will need fixing. New air filter. Luckily it had not been bastardized too awfully bad and all of the sheet metal is there and in good shape. A few dents and character marks. It seems to run very good and I like the looks and feel of it. When I was a kid, My dad bought a brand new CII Gleaner. Now I find out that it had the same engine as this tractor. That thing ran like a monster and in a full day of combining, it would take all 50 gallons of gas in the tank. Saw one like it a few weeks ago at the local used farm dealers lot and now it sure looks small. I look forward to using this tractor next spring and also to learning more about it on this forum. Happy Thanksgiving to you.
