New AC Lawn Tractors

Has anybody operated or been around these new Allis Chalmers Lawn Tractors that briggs and stratton started making? I have only seen them online. just wondering guys.

Someone should make a modern reproduction wd45!! Looks like they just took a modern lawn mower body and painted it orange and white and slapped AC on it to me!!

Our Simplicity dealer which started out as an Allis Chalmers dealer in 1935 won't stock them.
Will order one in for customer.
Said they are nothing to write home about.

I bought one and never used it. If I had to do it over I would not have bought it and used that money toward real orange. It does say Allis Chalmers though. I would be glad to sell it for what I pd.

What I noticed first was the CHEAP deck!!! And it only had ONE single gauge wheel on each side!! Our simplicity has a full width roller and mowers like a dream!! How can you mower with a chincy single gauge wheel on uneven ground?? They looked cheap. Said to put AC logos on them. Ryan

If they wanted to gain my respect, they shoud have made an A-C version of the Prestige or the Legacy XL. The ones out now are  what they are: a cheap mower at a cheap price. A slap in the face to all past A-C mowers.

I'm with Jeff. AC died Dec 1985. Everything since then is just imitation.

I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY MADE IT LOOK LIKE A CUB CADET. THE HOOD IS EVEN WHITE THEY SHOULD HAVE MOLDED THE PLASTIC HOOD LIKE A WD, D SERIES OR 190 & MADE IT ORANGE & EVERY TRUE AC FAN WOULD BE AFTER ONE , NO MATER HOW IT WAS BUILT. MY CUB CADET ISN,T ANYTHING TO BRAG ABOUT EITHER.

John Deere is the only company that builds a good garden tractor anymore, but you will pay handsomely for one.

Agreed. The department store JD's are pieces of crap. hell i am not even sure if they can handle cutting grass from what i have seen (better hope for a drought). With the higher quality you gotta pay the John deere "Green Gold Fee" if you want something thats actually worth a damn. It's a joke....just give me a B with a woods belly mower on it!!

I couldn't agree more. When I work at the local Deutz-Allis dealer we got an 1716H with an 50 inch deck on trade. I tried to get my dad to buy it for about three months but he use to tell me why sould i buy an used lawn tractor for 4500 bucks when I can go to Canadian Tire and buy one for 1500 bucks and get one every couple years. After me harressing him I brought it home . that was in 1989 Dad still uses that 1716 to cut the 3 acres and last year he said I was right. He also has no attentions to buy  an new lawn tractor for some time.                                                       

It is absolutely amazing the difference in quality between the old machines and the new. Like ACMowerguy said, they don't hold a candle to the 700 series. I love that 716H I have. What an animal that thing is! Weighing in at 806 lbs without its Dozer blade on, and the weight box out back, that .030 over big ole' one lung Kohler that I got under the hood can push! Its a blast! That surprise snow storm we had a few weeks ago that dropped 14" of heavy wet snow, along with dropping all the tree's round' here, was no match for that 716H wit' them giant aggressive ATV tires out back. I had no idea what it was going to do to move that crap. It actually pushed that heavy crap down the long driveway we have! JoAnna stood there with her mouth hanging open watching that thing clear the driveway. She even said "that thing is unbelievable'! I have another 716H waiting for a resto.... Somethin' else to have fun with!  LOL!

I don't care what anyone says, nothing beats my 1941 B with a 60 combine engine and woods mower. It's a heck of a grass and leaf eater. By the way, who do I look like? LOL. One second thought, don't answer that!

When I lived at home with Mom and Dad we used a old G with a Woods belly mower for years. It got the job done but we finally broke down and bought a new B8200 Kubota in 1988. That thing is still going strong. It's mowed at least 3 acres every week in the summer since new. The hour meter only goes to 999hrs and I quit counting after it rolled over 4 times.

When I got a place of my own I bought a 1760 Kubota and it's a great machine also. I don't think much of their bigger tractors but you can't beat their lawn mowers IMO. Hey, at least they're orange and just as much a AC as the mower in question with the AC stickers.
