I was putting engine together and back in tractor I went to install injectors and noticed they are not going in all the way, there is some kind of insert in inj bore and the diam is smaller than my tips, tip diam is between 1/2 & 9/16, head casting number is 4514790, and my tractor is late ser #, so do I have wrong head, tips, or do the inserts in head need to come out. Any ideas?

Are you looking at the "ears" on the injectors and they're not touching the head? If so, that's how they go. There is a copper washer that seals the injector to the head. Just make sure you aren't trying to stack 2 when you put the injector in.

No, I know how far they should go but these only go far enough to get about 1/2 the nut threaded on. If you look in the inj hole in head there is an insert in the bore, that diam is smaller than the tip of inj, that is my problem. I done some checking I belive I have the right head, is there some kind of repair insert for head that takes a smaller tip inj, this head has been welded from inj bores to deck surface

The later heads use smaller injectors for more strength for the head .

I may have the injectors you need. These have been rebuilt. I bought them as you did not knowing there was two different size threads, so I have these shelved away waiting for the right engine to use them on. I can't remember if these are the small or large tipped ends, though. I can check on them tomarrow. Let me know if you need!   Frankmi.

Thats the bad thing I just had these rebuilt with 6 new tips, so I was hoping someone could tell me if the later tips will fit early inj, you might check to see which ones you got in case I need a set.

Thanks for checking but those are the same that I have. Does anyone know if the smaller tips will work in mine or do I need a different set.
