I've picked a few things on eBay this year, large & small so I thought I'd share:
80R3 mower - near Litchfield, IL, $275. Very good guards & bolt on sections. I need to fiddle with the adjustments more, I think the cable needs shortened (it's been replaced) and the break-away spring needs tightened. Belt looks almost new. It's Category I so you have pull a sway block off...manual says it will go on if you have one Cat 1 block and one Cat 2 block...so the hunt for Cat 1 blocks continues. Only appears to be missing the shield from the PTO shaft? Anyone have a PTO shaft from a parts mower? ![]() ![]() Two NOS AC Delco Fuel pumps for my Gleaner EIII. $30 each. Seller had four, I took two and pointed Bill K. (who bought the EIII and took it to Alaska) to the the other two and he got them. ![]() The best deal of this bunch, WORKING D17 rear work light - both flood and red tail light work plus a fender mount D-series headlight shell with right fender casting mount, visor & retainer ring. $5 for the whole group. ![]() Another project (like I needed one, lol!), Allis 712 Hydro. $265 - near Steelville, MO. Good general shape. Did not run when I bought it but drained the gas and cleaned the carb bowl and it starts and runs fine. Hydro works. Engine makes a bit of knock...might be a winter tear down project but came with paperwork that the internals had been re-done once. 42" deck has a few rust holes but is complete including shield and discharge rock guard. Might needs a few spindle bearings as it doesn't want to turn freely. Haven't had time to mess with it other than getting it started. Worst case it's a parts mower for the 716H. No shed room so it goes on the front porch at the farm for the moment. ![]() ![]() ![]() Speaking of the 716H, that investment is paying off. 10 year old son Lucas has mastered it and now mows the orchard... ![]() ![]() Edited by Skyhighballoon(MO) - 27 Jun 2011 at 11:12pm |

Mike it looks like the 716 has a little helper now. lol
Where did you find the discharge shield for the deck for 716?
I think I have a good PTO shield on a 80-R you can cut off to fit your 80-3.

Mike, I might have an original cable laying around down here. Do you have a picture and/or measurements?

Mike I am "ORANGE" with envy.I like that 3 pt. mower. Been lookin for one of those for along time. We had a snap coupler version of the same thing back on our farm when I was younger.Would like to find one for the back of my D-17 SIV. Probably will have to settle for a red one AAAARRGGHH.. Good find

Looks like the 716 may have one blade pretty worn out. As for the knock, my 816GT with B&S 16 Twin has always had it. Found it in MO about five years ago and Sandy Lake can get everything for these rugged old A-C mowers.
Had the carb rebuilt on mine as it had sat for over ten years without use. Don't recall what the 716 had for an engine, but the old Briggs twins will load up if you leave them idling for very long and I run a small steady stream of water out of the garden hose directly in the carb twice a year; put her at half throttle when you do it and you will be surprised at how much carbon you will blow out of it.
1/2 cup of Seafoam directly in the carb when done and put the balance of the can in a full tank of fuel. My knock is more noticable some days than others and I run Valvoline straight 30 wt. with a cup of Marvel Mystery Oil with each change. The 816GT will really eat some grass with that 48" deck. If you lose a spindle bearing, SL has spindles in stock and the replacement spindle assemblies have grease zirks for the bearings where the originals did not.
