Need a starting point here please. My D17 D Series IV ran perfectly the last time I used it to mow. Yesterday I was going to mow again and it will not start. Turns over just fine, It just will not fire up. I figured the first place to start was the fuel tank and work my way to the injector pump. I would rather not resort to starting fluid with the direct injection type as I have observed many times on this forum.
Also, where can I find the proper fule filters as I figure they will need changing in this process as well.

Don't worry about the mule going blind, just load the wagon.

Is your shot off lever in the correct position? Seen it happen more than once. Start at injector pump with loosening the infeed line. See what kind of flow you got, then work your way back to the tank.

Shut off lever moves the arm on the pump as it should (to the best of my knowledge). And there is absolutely no smoke from the exhaust.

I agree with Bob something has happened to pump. If it was running ok last time and you pulled shut off to stop it, And now it won't ! With no smoke something happened inside or its stuck in off position? I forget how its made -works inside, I'm sure one of the pump experts will tell you.

If it has set very long it probably has a stuck metering valve in the fuel housing.

Run position is to the rear on the shut off lever. Napa has the filters, or call Sandy Lake. No smoke says no fuel. They will run maybe a minute with the fuel shut off before it will die. Usually if the governor ring is disintigrating, it will run maybe 10 minutes before it quits. Little bits of governor ring material clog the return line. I would be wondering if the pump is turning. Take the cover off the timing window and crank the engine. You might need someone to crank the engine while you watch. If nothing turns, it's probably twisted the pump drive shaft indicating a seized pump.

As mentioned before, could be in the pump.
Had the same thing happen to a D-19 diesel, Wouldn't start all the sudden.
Ended up being a stuck valve in the pump.
