Does anyone know of a reliable Magneto repair shop in Texas or any other reliable shop that can fix them right the first time?  Thanks in advance!

I've seen ads for Loupolus Magneto Service and Lightning Mag Service in Antique Power. What's wrong with yours? They're not very tough to repair.

Brian: At this point in time I really do not know, but I am working on a '39 and '48 "B" and am just getting prepared for the future needs. I have six FMJ magnetos, and like you say I might need to see if I can repair them myself. Thanks for your imput.

Steve at B&B Custom Circuits is one of the best.  He frequents this site.

Dave....  Six???

You ought to see if you can get a copy of Neil Yerigan's out-of-print Magneto book.
They sell in the range of $100, if you can find one, but they are well worth it if you have multiple mags to rebuild. They cover the FMJ 4B3 in great detail, if you can follow along, even a caveman could do it...
I had a few of that book, but I sold all my extras. Maybe someone here has a copy they are willing to part with.

I had Steve at B & B redo 4 for me.  They are hot as fire; he does great work. Unless you are really good at that kind of thing, you can't hardly justify trying to do it yourself.   It is money well spent.

Glenn:
Thanks for reminding me, senior moment, I have that book, maybe I should read it???
In fact, I have a printout off The Forum that Duey(IA) wrote about Magnetos back in 2001 stuffed inside the cover. Probably should read this also. Later

Thanks guys for the referrals. Be happy to rebuild or service any of your Magneto's. Fairbanks is my specialty, but I do em' all when I can get the parts. Some of the old Mags are just about extinct, and so are the parts. Sometimes I have to make the parts if I can. Drop me a line or give a call. Be happy to help you out with any info, parts, or service...

We use Steve at B&B exclusively.  He does excellent work and the mags are returned to you looking, and probably working better than new.
And as to where he actually "fixes them", it would matter not to me if he worked on them naked in the front yard, he does excellent work. (now there's a "vision" for ya)

Dave, that is 5 minutes in the penalty box for unsportsmanlike (but funny) conduct.  Bret, you are confusing Steve for that Congressman in New York.

Dave,
Don't listen to Fred. I don't do my customer's Mags on the floor. I did have a problem with the bench early on, but not anymore. I cut about 3 foot off the legs. Problem solved!
