My 6070 gave me grief a few years ago, it was the check valve on the injector pump on the return line that was sticking.

Again, replace any rubber hose in the system.

Could be a case of flex ring deterioration in the injection pump and plugging the return line and causing it to quit which is what Dale is referring to above with the fitting with the ball. Black pieces of rubber will plug this fitting with the ball in it. The ball can be removed but is not a good idea. If this is your problem you can expect an injection pump rebuild. Pretty common problem on the older tractors with Roosa Master pumps, same happened to my 180.

I bought a 200 a couple months ago that had been setting for several years. I changed both fuel filters and found out the primer pump would not work so I blew air into the fuel tank with air hose, I put a rag around filler hole, opened up bleeder at last filter. Started up, ran fine for a while then would die. I got my brother-in law who worked for AC for over 30 years here. He took a fitting off the line that goes to ing, pump I think and knocked out a little ball that he said is not needed. Runs great now.

Look at the inside of the tank,and or drain, being used, you have no idea how it was maintained. Flush tank out with gas, clean out bowl/petcock, start again with fresh fuel. Then at least you have a clear starting point if this is not your cause.

latest update: bad news. mowed 2 fields then tractor took fit again and now won't run. To dark to work on again. Any body else had this to keep happening to them? what did you do?

The pump was still on the tractor. After the air was removed from the lines the tractor is running better now than it has since we bought it a few months back. they was supposed to fix this problem but apparently they just did a quick fixer upper and sent the tractor on its way!! Thanks for all the help everybody....this is the best place for advice that I have ever seen!

I just went through this with my 200. Replaced both the water seperator and the filter, with a pump and injector rebuild. Do you have the primer pump in the fuel line? its a plunger style and is after the water filter before the second filter. You just need to push the plunger till it gets pressure built up ( you will feel it in the plunger as you push it in). If there is any doubt as to how much fuel is getting to the pump, just remove the pump end of the steel supply line. It should squirt a good amount of fuel as you push the primer, IF it is still on the tractor. I realize the tractor is at least 35 years old and these things get modified. Please keep us posted.

I am not familiar with this fuel system, but it should have a fuel pump. Electric or mechanical. Can't depend on gravity to supply diesel to the injection pump, bad fuel pump??

does anybody know how to bleed the fuel lines to get the fuel back up into all 3 filters so it will start?

we took the hose off, cleaned the value and flushed the tank with fresh diesel... you can blow air thru the whole system but the fuel will not build back up in the filters. It comes up even with the line where it hooks to the rubber hose and just stops. There is nothing blocking the air. anybody got any ideas? Metal lines and nothing blocking it. What in this world could be wrong?

Varnish in the steel pipe can get loose and act like a loose rubber lining in a hose too.

Could stuff like the pink lint from corn cobs (called butterfly wings) is collecting on the screen in the tank. And that's probably made worse by varnish having nearly closed up the screen. Blowing back towards the tank pushes the junk (whether pink or brown) away from the screen, but the gas flow pulls it back.

ron nca has the same ezperience I have had.
My Ford has done that a couple of times and a neighbors Deutz has done it too. I take the valve out at the bottom of the tank and clean it out. Usually full of small bits of trash. Flush tank with clean fuel.

Is the fuel line rubber?? If so, the interior lining is probably bad and is acting like a check valve. I had a 16 year old brake line line do the same thing to me on a car.

allis 200 - tractor acts like it is out of fuel. can take off the fuel line and blow air thru it one way but if try to the other way it will not let me. Fuel is not getting to the first fuel filter. If you have any suggests please let me know. Trying to mow hay down while we have a few days between rain. Thanks so much Scott Carroll
