I've replaced the complete shaft/sproket assembly in the starter with orginal new parts and I still have the same problem. The sproket backs up and locks to tight in the home position, so that when u tried to start it, it spins in place and won't move up the sindle, once I free it up, it works for a little while, then gets jammed back up against the stop. This is what was happening to the orginal assembly I had. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

can you put a washer in for a spacer so it doesn't come back too far? Bob

Mine did this when I put the new assembly in. To fix, don't laugh, I put a hose clamp around the shaft so it can't go back so far. Takes a little time to get it situated right but it has been working for me, knock on wood.
