It shouldn't take too long - about half an hour? Depends on how level the place where you are going to drop the header. Find a good level place where the machine & head can rest evenly. I assume the head is a grainhead?? Operators manual usually describes building a header skid built from 4x4 wood that can cradle the header and then be used to attach a chain somewhere for skidding it around if necessary. Of course, add more time to fabricate this skid or one like it.
You will have to loosen the header drive belt idler then remove the belt. After that, there are 4 spring pins - 2 at the top & 2 at the bottom of the throat that wedge the header tight against the throat. There should be a lever wrench hanging on the clean grain elevator. One of its ends has a hole or slot that can be centered on the end of the spring pins. Once on the end of the spring pins, just push the spring pin in and then move it away from the wedge slot - up or down?
Once all 4 spring pins are free, the header should dislodge from the throat. Check to see if it has an automatic header control cable attached? If so, then you will have to remove the cable from the cab mount.
