175 sediment bowl PITA

   OK, who's run across this *&%%%^*$ problem?  You can't get anything in there to loosen the rusted nut to get the sediment bowl off.  I put the rotovator on my new 175D today thinking I would give it a good workout and see how it performed.  3/4 round the field and it loses power and dies. Crap...first time I've ever had that problem.  Tractor is supposed to have all new filters and a rebuilt injector pump.  So I'm looking under the tank for a fuel shutoff and see that this one has a sediment bowl on it. Can't budge the nut...cause you can't get to it because of all the hydraulic lines and crap in the way.  So, I take a punch and break the glass bowl just so I can get the bail off.  Anyway, I reach in there with a screw driver and pry off the rubber ring and screen...completely plugged!  I don't think this thing has ever been off.  So I grab a new one, another bowl and bail out of my used parts stash....but can't get everything lined up....just no room to move your hands. Finally go in the house and wrap scotch tape around the bowl and rubber gasket.  Trim off the excess and everything goes together. Bleed the system and worked her hard for an hour with no problems.....I just am not looking forward to next time.

	According to the AGCO parts book website, diesels did not use the sediment bowl under the fuel tank - just a shut off valve. First filter is above the hand pump. Mine is set up this way as well.

	I think this is the first one I've seen with a bowl on it too. I looked at the 170D that is in pieces, and it had no bowl, but the lift pump in and outlets were set up opposite of this one. Maybe the screen will save me a few filter changes...this tractor came from the rainforest, so hoping it isn't algae that caused the problem....and just years of sediment.

	Well it is raining pretty good right now...should be good for the manure I tilled in. Wanted to plant onions, but that is not gonna happen today.

	I am not a fan of the sediment bowls either, my 180D has one, and I had all kinds of trouble getting it to stop leaking after I took it apart, put a new gasket and screen in it and everything.
