I always cut the drive shaft between the transmision and fineals. That makea it safer and easyer to pull, that would work on a hydrostat. On a good combine, I just take off the stear tires and chane the axel level, also slide over the driveshaft couplers.
If you move a combine this way, they bounce at about 20 mph, but inbetween 30 and 50 mph they smoth out. That is the way my yonger boy does it. I am not in that much of a hurry.

I have puled several by just winching the back axle onto my car trailer and then just chaining the tires down actually this is how I drug my d17 home the other day. just don't go very fast.
