Looking at a 180 diesel owner says slips in hi side. Is this an expensive fix or something that just requires adjustment?

Usually a stuck hyd valve/low oil pressure to clutch is the cause. BUT, if it has been slipped a lot, the clutch plate could be warped and that will be $$$ and time to split. We had a 185 that was let slip too long and needed new power director.

we have a 180 that slipped. we rebuilt the hyd pump, still slipped. we rebuilt the power director/hi-low clutch pack and it still slipped. last thing we did is tore apart the valve body that controls hi-low directly beneath the hi-low lever? no problems now. Had piece of debris in control stack that caused sticking.

On my 190 gas, pd was slipping. Found the operators platform mounts broken, so side where control console is was sagging a little, and taking pd linkage out of adjustment, thus not fully engaging the pd valve. Fixed the platform mounts and she works like a charm. Darrel

Usually once they slip they are done , new clutch plates and steel plates are needed; $625 will get all the parts you need including sealing rings and new shaft seals thru AGCO ; the driving hubs should be good yet ,,, if not it begins to get real expensive

Did the tractor ever have a cab. Especially after market cabs caused the platform mounts to break. The weight needs to be on the axle housings and not the platform. Just a side note.

Lonn, it does have an aftermarket cab on it, and when I fixed it up, I put supports on it to the axle, Darrel

180-185's don't suffer from a cab installation because the PD valve is inside the dashboard. Install gauges on the PD manifold (located at the brake latch mechanism area) and check pressures in "low" and "high" ranges. Pressures should be equal both ways and (memory) should be 240 psi minimum.?? If pressures are OK andequal and it still slips in one side only (assuming the foot clutch is OK) the problem is inside the PD clutch.
