I’m considering selling this to make room for other projects. Not sure how the tractor market is these days, and I’ve done a lot of work to this one. So, I’m not looking to give it away. Anyway, what’s your thoughts on value of a ‘66 D17 series IV, gas, snap coupler, unknown original hours. Runs and drives super well. New radiator, foot clutch, brakes, all fluids/filters changed recently, power director inspected and shimmed to spec, front bolster and steering gone through and resealed, etc etc. Could use a good paint job, has a few leaks still, but a pretty damn nice working tractor with good sheet metal. We all know you can wrap up a ton of money in these if you’re fixing one up. What’s a fair asking price for one that’s a long way towards being fixed up already?

To quote my Grandpa "If that were mine and you were sitting on a feather we'd both be tickled! Big smile

I wouldn't take less than $4500 if I were selling it.

I agree with Les, especially with those tires.
The Series IV are worth more, because of the hydraulic system.

Easy answer, what’s your bottom dollar amount you’d sell it? You don’t need to reply that number on the forum, but you know that number. Now go research current auction results for similar models & compare.
Many online auctions represent a vast buyers audience. So the selling item being considered may pleasantly surprise you. If so, talk to local auctioneers about their commissions (selling fees) so you can figure your possible take home dollars after sale, If satisfied, try listing it at your local auction that also offers/includes online bidding. Done.

That’s a $5-6k tractor in my area. You have already replaced some really important maintenance items to it. Good luck, you won’t have any issue selling it.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. Gives me something to think about. I’m sure that I have $6k or so into it at this point and don’t want to lose money. It doesn’t eat anything, so it’s not a big deal to keep it. Just not sentimental to me, and have another series IV coming in, so may or may not thin the herd a little. I definitely don’t have time for all the projects I’ve accumulated. Sounds familiar, eh?
