209 Disk & 64 Plow

   I picked up a Snap Coupler HD 11 tooth coil shank cultivator at an auction recently. I had seen what looked like a large but rough old AC wheel disk, and passed on it without being able to inspect it beforehand and figured it was too big anyways. Well, the owner was wandering around during loadout and he was tickled pink the coil shank cultivator wasn't getting scrapped. He asked me if I had also bought the "really good disk" to which I replied that from the pictures it looked like it was too large for my tractors. He then said his uncle used to pull it with the WD sometimes and he sure hoped whoever bought it wasn't going to scrap it.
I was able to get in touch with the buyer (scrap cleanup guy) and turns out I actually knew him. He talked me into taking one of the nicest original 64 (I think it's a 64?) plows I've ever laid eyes on, and some other brand stuff I won't mention here, ha. I also pulled a wheat screen and a few parts off of a junk All-Crop 60. 

The plow is probably a bit big for my WD45s but maybe it'll get put to work when I get a D19 fixed up enough? The disk is 8.5'. I have a #20 which I plan to use for fast shallow cultivation and have been keeping my eye out for a heavier AC disk for slightly deeper tillage, since my "big" disk (11.5' IH 470) is probably also bit much for a WD45. How are the 200-series disks as far as penetration?

	If you don't care about looks,just unbolt the last bottom,bracket and all and switch out with 3rd bttm. I'd try it on the 45 in second gear first. The 200 disc cuts good with factory blades. Problem is most replacment blades have too much cup and the leading edge isn't leading. You done well! Everyone's dirt is different but I pull 4-16's easily in second with my 45. 	Make sure the scrap guy knows you are looking for orange...it's amazing what they will offer you before scraping

	Good find and save!!! Boy that plow is nice!!! I have pulled my 13ft disk on my WD with 16.9R28 rubber no weights in a lower gear in a smaller patch. On a hot day you’d have to watch the temp.

	I'll bet your 45 will pull that 470 disc just fine. I pull a 14' IH 46 every year with mine. Third gear, second in the garden. Looks like a great haul!

	Pulling a disk depends on how much its cutting and how deep its going.I have a disk that I use on my garden the first time I disk the WD45 will do fine the 2nd time I have to use the Oliver 1600.

	I have a 10' version of that disk. It does good in already worked ground but doesn't do much in unworked ground. In corn stalks it rolls them over and tosses a little dirt. the coolest part about that disk is it still has the snap coupler traction booster hookup attached. Most that I see have had those parts removed by now.

	Very nice haul of AC snap coupler equipment. Just don't get old and tired. My experience has never been that positive with those in the scrape business. Do what you can to keep that relationship alive.

	Maybe I’m lucky but he is a great person. Both him and his brother will let me know what they find. I keep him fed with the scrap I generate too. He runs a small route around here with trailers parked at various businesses and pays a lower rate but the simplicity is worth it for me!
