Neat video, are there any plowing competitions held in the U.S. anymore?

I'm curious to know the answer to that too. It seems in Britain they primarily have plowing matches. In the US it always seems to be 'plow days' - no actual competition. Here in Canada it's a mix of both (maybe a few more matches than days).

When I was younger and stupid(er) I thought I was pretty good at setting up and operating a plow. Then I went to a few matches and listened to them talk, judge, and they gave me a copy of the rules and judging handbook. Holy smokes, talk about a different league.

That's great, well impressed with the standard of ploughing (British spelling) and also the Chieftain tank at the end of the video!  I did a bit of research and apparently the Chieftain's 19-litre engine had a hydraulic starter, presumably they used that to set the Dowdeswell plough.

@DanielW - Yes, ploughing matches used to be fairly common in Britain – my Dad and Grandad both went along to them, Grandad might even have competed in his younger day.  He started working with a pair of Clydesdale horses, before he bought petrol/paraffin tractors, including a Model B.

The Scottish Ploughing Championships are happening near Montrose, just up the road from me, this weekend - https://scotplough.co.uk/
