I dont know if the tube failed and they put the flanges on the bolt it back together, or if the plan was to shorten the tube like an IB... Distance where the "battery" would set seems a little short compared to factory.

I don't know about the torque tube extension, but I believe the thicker rear (2 "bump) centers and the wrap around (top) fenders were from a war time steel wheeled B. The steel wheeled B's also had a much higher breather tube and some had cast valve covers and oil pans.
Did the B's ever have an auxiliary Sherman step-up or step-down transmission. Could the torque tube extension be for the ones that didn't have the Sherman transmission?

I know nothing about the IB tractors but it seems like I read somewhere that they have a shortened torque tube. Is this anything at all like that?
