190XT engine

I finally figured out how to post pictures, and yesterday was reminded of one of the things I wanted to find out. I bought my 190XT at auction 35 years ago (sight unseen, a friend went for me as I didn't have the time) and it has been relatively problem free ever since. It has an obviously replaced engine, and when I asked the local Allis dealer about it they said it was probably from an MH Gleaner - this was based on my description of the injector pump and them not seeing it. So for many years I had an MH engine in my 190XT, replaced the water pump with an MH water pump, no problem. Then I found this forum, and was reading a thread one day where DrAllis stated that combine engines don't have hydraulic pumps. Mine does, and it looks like it belongs there. One thing I really like about it since I mostly run a baler is the engine speed, at full throttle it turns the PTO at 540 so I can run it half asleep and not have to worry about getting the throttle set right. Anyway, the suggestion yesterday was that it might be a loader engine.

Not a lot of Allis or Gleaner in my area, didn't have much for dealers locally. In the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project (Grand Coulee Dam) the only dealer that I know of that was Allis was Smith Tractor in Pasco. I would go to Walter Implement in Odessa, but they were more geared toward the articulates, and by the time I started Allis had changed hands. Most of what I know about them comes from a few conversations with the mechanics at Walter and from reading I&T manuals until I stumbled on this forum. I really do appreciate the knowledge that is shared.

Loader engine for sure. That's a dual oil cooler. One for engine one for transmission. The air compressor mounts where your hyd pump is. Just like my 78 545B.
