He's young and it should have made a hell of a lot of noise. That's a win right there.

Hmm, he told me he got to pull against some modified puller… Sorry, I don’t know the rules in pulling, never pulled a tractor other than in the field. Heck, I’m just about as old right now as Doc in the picture!! |

It's not a stripped 200 chassis. It is a 190XT III rear end only. Everything else is fabricated as far as the chassis goes. The hood and grille and side hood were from a salvage 190. Rear side hoods trimmed to clear the 460 V-8. Instrument panel/brake and clutch pedals also from a 190. Never pulled against cousin John. Modified tractors didn't pull against stockers.

Wow, a 200 was only a few years old at that time…stripped to a puller with a V8, that’s pretty impressive. Can’t imagine anyone willing to give up a nice 200 to be a puller? Gotta be a story there! Can’t wait to hear about it

Doc, did you pull around Iowa?
You might have pulled against my cousin John in his early years, he had a 45 diesel all factory other than rpms.

Soooo long ago !! I don't remember every detail, but it was built from scratch with the Lincoln welder that we still use on the farm that Dad bought new. 1969 or 70 Lincoln 460 4 bbl with 10.5 to 1 and 365 HP. Added a Holley 780 carb I think. Deeper oil pan. 11 inch button clutch in a steel can. 4-speed top-loader Ford close ratio trans. Speed selections were 7 MPH-9.5 MPH-12.5 MPH and 15.5 MPH all at 2200 RPM. A 190XT III rear end locked in road gear. 23.1 x 30 tires. The 1 inch thick adapter plate and channel side frames from the front face of the rear end were made by a local Blacksmith. Front wheels were my build with WD steer gears (open with grease on them). Painted in-between Dad's double covered corn cribs with an electric paint gun borrowed from my Uncle. I do remember $2500 being spent. I do (fondly) look back at my ignorance and lack of knowledge on how to do many things related to fabrication and design, and yet it turned out OK and everything worked. I had no mentor to guide me or offer advice. I just kind of knew what I wanted it to look like and what features it would have. 5000 lb class. I sold it and didn't lose any money.
