Hello, I need a new bin light on the F3. I have a 30 watt led light I would like to use. The old light had only one wire. The new light has two wires. Should I connect the red wire to existing hot wire and attach the black wire the combine as a ground? I see where people have problems replacing incandescent lights with LEDs, I am trying to to avoid that. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not knowing the specific LED, if it is designed to operate directly off of the battery voltage (meaning it has the appropriate LED buffering circuitry internal to the package), then yes, the ground/black wire could be attached to the ground/frame (assuming negative ground). Some LED packages are lightbulbs that fit exactly in the old bulb fixture as-is. Of course, a bare LED would require you to add external circuitry to adjust voltage and current to the LED specs.

should be fine.. for a quick test, just touch the red wire to the HOT and touch the black to a bare spot on the frame.. If all is well, then go ahead and do permanent install.

Thank you guys. I didn't do a good job of explaining, it's a work light that bolts on, not a bulb. I will give I a try as Steve suggested, thanks again.

I have had some LEDs that have two black wires.... crazy.
so I just use a 12v adapter with very low amps, and try to find the hot wire, and mark it.
LEDs won't work backwards.
