Wtb sae bellhousing for 2800/2900 301 motor. Would buy entire unit if needed to get it. I have a IH power unit with a twin disk clutch set up....long story short I would like to replace it in the appropriate orange power.

Your best bet is getting one from a genset. Will likely be a #2

I believe it is a no. 2 ...if someone can point me in the right direction as the dimensions to confirm I would appreciate it. Another concern I have is do I need the corresponding flywheel to match up?

Just throwing this out there- at work we have a bunch of Lull tellehandlers that have what your talking about behind the engine; a few have Cummins, a few John Deeres, even one had a Deutz at one time; the bell housings are very common and maybe alot eaiser to find- have to redrill holes , but anything is do-able

Most are SAE #2 from what I've seen on the carnival circuit with standby engines. An adapter plate is not difficult to make with a steel plate that bolts to the engine flywheel and a coupler this plate drives and connects the input shaft of the generator to. This assembly does need balanced by a machine shop however or engine or generator section bearings wear fast.

Thanks for the suggestions.
As close as I can measure at this time....I belive I need a #3 bellhousing. Building a plate to flywheel conversion will not work in my application because I need the dry twin disc clutch to attach because it operates the disconnect for the machine. If I can't find an allis bellhousing I will probably suck it up and keep the I.H. motor and overhaul it. Would the 426 bell come closer to being a #3? Still looking for flywheel and bellhousing. |
