I started to get LOTS of ads for glasses bout 3-4 months ago and started to pay attention since I was in the market for a new pair. First off,,, the final cost will NOT be as they claim and their communication is Absolutely the WORST I have ever had to deal with! They push the BOGO free but that does not get mentioned even when placing order. My one pair cost me more than buying from Vision Center at Walmart where I have always bought before!
I tried numerous times to "TALK" to a human but their ONLY means for Customer Service is thru their "CHAT" which is answered by,,,,you guessed it,,,a recording with canned answers!! The ONLY phone number posted on their web site is again,,,,you guessed it,,,refers you to that stinking "CHAT"!!!!  You just go round and around!!! Their idea of "FAST TURNAROUD is 4 weeks and tracking is BS!!
How you EVER gonna resolve anything by texting to a computor that refers you right back to itself and gives you non answers???  CHIT, CHIT, CHIT,,,,

Been getting my glasses at Sam's Club as if you have their upscale card you get 20% off their normal price on glasses . Here the Sam's Club and the Walmart obticians are husband and wife and are both compitent .
I was having my eye exams done by them also but now my Ucare insurance says they are out of network . Last eye exam at Sams was $85 2 years back , following year I went to a place that was in network - They charged $360 for exam and left me with a copay of $50 for the exam .
Just called insurance and they told me they would not cover out of network exam , but I still can purchase glasses anywhere as I have $150 loaded onto a Debit Card to pay up to that much .

For those few who might have access to Costco, it has been a good alternative source for prescription glasses for us.

We were getting glasses at Wal Mart... Wifes eyes change every couple years.. Mine were Constant for several years.. I got the prescription from them and went on line to Eyeglassdirect... I buy a pair every year for new and take the one year old for work outside.. Im tough on glasses... These cost $100. a pair for no line bifocals.. I have been doing that for 10 years... Have not got exam since then, but had eyes checked at 20/ 20 recently.

I need to have my eyes checked and get some new glasses and youse guys scare the cr*p out of me!

You've gotta be careful what you say around ANY of the new electronics.  They are listening to everything you say.  Talk about needing something,,,,,,,,,,, next thing you see are ads for that.  And God forbid you should walk by neked.....THEY see you!!  The only safe way is to put tape over the camera lens...

We now live in a scary, scary world!

It takes about 2 weeks to get the above glasses. I think they are in New York. I have bought a pair every year for about 10 years. I give them the same prescription every year. I have never received any glasses that did not fit and work properly... You have to pick a pair of frames that FIT your head.. I just compared them to my old glasses and picked a frame that matches in size..
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I use the same company that I have been getting eye wear from since 5th grade. They were really good to my family when I was younger. Not a lot of money to go around back in the day and they helped my family when others wouldn't. When my dad was elderly and needed eye surgery they were there every step of the way. I buy glasses from their granddaughter now . Friends say they are too pricey and their hours are not convenient. I will never buy glasses anywhere else until they go out of business.

I agree with you Pat use a local place. Service counts a lot. I use to bend or break a temple bar real regular it seemed. The local place always came up with a part to get me seeing again. Color may not have been the same, but I could not see that, so did not care.

Also I seem to need to have them adjusted so they don't hurt my ears by rubbing the wrong place. They also stay on my big nose better. Nothing like having greasy hands and your glasses are falling off your nose.

HOWDY Friends,,,,I'm proud to report a very positive  outcome from a fellow member on here!! about a month or so I started a thread on buying some glasses from an online vendor and Ole Steve(ILL) really come thru on this for me.
Ya see,,I had ordered a pair from eyeglasses usa and sadly found out that the whole frigging company is run by computer with apparently only ONE employee and he/she NEVER answers the phone!! Once you place an order (by computor) you are on your own as no matter how many times you call or even what time you call you ain't gonna talk to a live person,,,!!Angry  Total for that pair of No Line Bifocals was $189,,,,,,
Well, after reading Ole Steve's link for GlassesDirect.com, I called and  I met the friendliest sales person,,the owner of the company,,named "RANDY" no less, and he led me thru the process with some suggestions that saved me money!! I plumb forgot a promo he had,,,"buy one pair of No Line Bifocals for $89",,, lens included and shipping is FREE,,THEN you can order another pair for "HALF PRICE",,,!!  WHAT A DEAL!! $133.50 total for two pairs of No Line Bifocals!! And, the quality is great looking!!
BUT,, I forgot to place order for the second pair at half price,,until TWO DAYS later and I called back and spoke with the owner, Randy, and he allowed me to change the order and get the second pair for $44.50,,,!!!! Combined shipping is FREE,,!!
That right there, My Friends, is how it used to be and hard to believe, isn't it??
By the way, the glasses from EyeglassesDirect.com arrived 5 days sooner that the other outfit,,!! What's NOT to like?

Well I'm really glad that you can 'see' the difference tween the companies Joe.  That ole Steve is really helpful sometimes ain't he!

I'm needing some glasses now so I'm glad you did 'our' homework for us!!!!!!!  Makes things a LOT EASIER!!  I don't want to start wearing glasses again, but I can't hardly read anything anymore.
I'll know more when I go to see the eye doc and get examined.  I'm even thinking glaucoma.   As has been said, gettin old ain't for sissies....

Thanks for the update, Joe, and thank you, Steve, for getting Ole Joe on the right track. I may have to get glasses soon and I will order from them. Haven't had an eye exam in 17 years so I definitely need one. I use the cheaters for close work and reading, have them scattered all over the place in case I need them.
