I went to an auction of one of our tractor club members.  He's still alive but is trying to cut back.  Anyway I bought what a friend referred to as an "IKEA tractor", an Oliver 88 diesel in a couple hundred pieces.  I think it's all pretty much there, just "some assembly required".  I didn't plan on buying it but the auctioneer couldn't get a bid so I helped him out, bad mistake!  Anyway, I figure I may as well paint it in pieces before putting it back together.  I've been looking at paint and wondering if you all have a suggestion of a decent brand that doesn't cost more than I paid for the tractor?

Many of the manufacturers use (or in AC's case, used) Valspar paint. On DSeries4 advice (I will blame it on Myron!), I got some AGCO paint and I am very happy with it. It lays on nice, has good shine, seems quite fade resistant and is much more reasonably priced.

I read somewhere that Valspar also made John Deere and Massey Ferguson's paint.

If anyone knows an AGCO dealer that will ship quarts of the AGCO paint, please let me know. My local dealer said the minimum order from AGCO is now up to $1000 for paint. He has gone to selling a different aftermarket paint. I would really like to find more of the AGCO PO2.

Do not even bother to look at PPG paints, anything they sell now is over $600/gal and any two or multi part paints are well past $1000/gal Plus the additives.
