Giys,
New to me D14 had a sticky valve, bad rotator, bent pushrod (all rated to #3 exhaust). So I pulled the head for repairs, lapped valves, etc.
Now it runs like a top but I have a water leak. Water is coming down left side from front of the head. Can't if it's the head or back or water pump. Wasnt leaking before head R&R so my hunch is head related? Also milky oil now. So internal oil leak, too.
Head bolts were replaced. Used washers since heads were smaller and bolts were slightly longer. I was pretty careful to measure available threads so I didn't bottom them out.
I used some RTV infer and on the right middle long bolt because it passes through the head water jacket. Is there another intersection into water jacket that I missed and failed to seals?
Added that I torqued bolts to 60 ft-lb.

Maybe one of the water pump bolts for the genny adjuster might be 'kinda loose' ? I recall water 'magically' appearing when I was replacing the genny with alternator on one of my D-14s.

I dont know which bolt that would be since mine now has an alternator.
After some cooldown I pulled bolts to 65 up from original 60 ft-lb. The external leak is gone. I'll drain off the water tomorrow and monitor if I'm still transferring water.

it was the one that has/had the slotted bar that you move the genny/alt to put tension on the Vbelt.

My otter bar ties to back left t-stat bolt. Which looks cobbled so probably not the one you're referring to.

not uncommon for them to leak at the freeze plugs in the head, under the rocker arm... or around the liner o-rings dripping into the pan.....
But since you have an EXTERNAL leak also, the head gasket is a good bet right now.
When you drain the oil, fill the radiator full and let it set for a couple hours with the oil drain plug out and see if you get any more DRIPPING... just to eliminate other possibilities.

I watched the Welch plugs while it was running. Saw no leakage from those. Before I crank itnagain I'll have the plugs out. Just to be safe.

Brought head bolts up from 60 ft-lb to 65 ft-lb and the external leak stopped. Changed the oil, and no more milky mess so internal leak is also stopped.
