Can anyone confirm what the 170 engine oil pan bolt torque specs are? is it 18-20ft lbs?

12 to 15 ft lbs spec.  Do you have each side gasket 100% glued solidly to the block?? And then thinly smear RTV on the pan side of the gasket with a daub in each of the four corners of the arch gaskets and then assemble to the 10 ft lbs number. Let sit overnight and cure and then torque to 12-15 ft lbs.

I use 3M 8001 yellow weather strip glue.

do you use that one just the side gaskets or you glue the front and rear u gaskets as well. Had the engine overhauled and had to split tractor again because cam plug was leaking oil.  Replaced that and back together now i have a slow but steady leak from the rear u gasket on the oil pan.  mechanic that is working on it had the oil pan off prior to splitting it thinking it was the pan gasket that needed replaced but never replaced the gasket and just added silicone when he put back together and now i have this leak.

So on the front and rear u gaskets am i correct by saying that these gaskets are the correct fit and should not be trimmed shorter because they need to be compressed to seal.  had new gaskets put in and guy trimmed the back one because he thought it was to long when he was gluing it in place and have a slow but steady leak coming between the gasket and bearing block

If you shorten the end gaskets they will SURELY leak.

Those "arch" end gaskets need to be placed inside a tube that rolls them around into shape days before you want to use them. I always have a pair sitting on the shelf curled up months ahead of when they get used. Whatever tube diameter it takes to roll them up so the ends touch and leave them like that to take shape.
