Shock of my Day!!

I'm still driving my '92 F250 Diesel with factory installed turbo system.  Showing a little body rust, but otherwise mechanically perfect.  I've owned it for 20 years and can sell it now for more than I paid for it back then!!  Nuts!!  I love the truck and will keep 'er goin as no computer to give me fits.

I still have Less in that Kenworth other than my own labor.

A 'Top of the Line' 2023 Chevy Silverado High Country 2500HD Diesel with a few added extra features is Sticker Priced at around $105,000 CAN.

A similar equipped GMC Sierra Denali is even higher.

Then Semi trucks, When resumed driving locally a Day Cab(NO Sleeper) Tandem Road Tractor new from Peterbilt or Western Star were roughly Same Pricing, Average $180,000 in '21.  Move to '22 that adjusted to over $210,000 SAME EXACT SPECS.  And currently be Lucky to get one for $235-250.  Why you may ask, to Cover EXTREME Warranty expenses of the Current Garbage DPF/DEF DOC systems and electronics messes these are.

MIght be worth considering a rebuild of an older unit... If you have a good frame... you could spend $4k on a motor, $4K on a transmission, $8K on body work / paint, $3K on interior/ seats , $1K on new fuel and brake lines....... $20K ????  Maybe ?

Heard on the news GM is shutting down their truck plant for 2 weeks because all of a sudden they have too many pickups. Probably can't sell as many $60,000 to $100,000 trucks. Don't see that many trucks on dealers lots just thinking dealers don't want or can't have that much high priced inventory sitting around.

I just looked up on the FORD site and you can buy a BASE LINE F150 XL with an 8 ft bed and 4 wheel drive for $35,000.   ........ buy like Paul said, thats not what sells... People look for FULLY LOADED trucks and that add $40,000. worth of "EXTRAS".

Well, the fact that a tank of gas lasts you 2 weeks and a tank lasts me a week says that in general I drive twice as much as you. Extrapolate another level and that means a 15 year old vehicle for me is about like your 30.   My daily driver now is a 22 year old truck, which of COURSE has a computer, those go back a ways. Add another tank of gas for the wife. And 45 hours plus driving for the day job, farm 400 acres, burn wood…. I don’t have TIME to work on vehicles, don’t have a spare to drive if I started a project much beyond routine maintenance. Another 2 cars in use are 13 years old and lots of miles. I don’t expect a single one of them to outlast me!!! So, going to have to part with some of that money burning in my pocket. Even if I could keep them mechanically running, salt cancer will have them consumed before too much longer.

We ain’t all the same. I don’t know what I’m going to get, probably next year. Hopefully stay less than $35k. If you think of it as lasting 10 years, $3500 per year, it’s not so bad.

Has anyone actually ordered one and actually taken delivery or are those orders Years Out??

Nephew just got new F350, waited 10 months, his old one it a Lariat, 2017, pretty much every option, 98000 miles asking $57600.  I think they will get it, it is clean and people don't want to wait 10 months for a new one that will be $88,000

Trucks are crazy right now when I traded my 2017 F250 they gave me less than a $1000 difference than what I paid for it  I traded for a loaded F150 because we are downsizing as we age and they were asking $4000 more than sticker price and sold within a week,
