I'm trying to put the cast center wheels back on my 210 which had power adjust rims way back when in the 90's but I put pressed steel on it for pulling but am now trying to put stationary rims back on it and I am struggling with getting the wedges bolted on.
Am I missing the trick to it or sequence so to speak. Any advice appreciated,I only have a cherry picker to lift tires. |

Position the axle keyway on the tractor straight up 12 oclock. Bolt the wedge with the key into the cast center and tighten bolts tight. Hang it on the axle. Install the keyless wedge in the bottom and tighten it.

Kevin. Put 1 on at approximately 10:00 and 1 at 2:00 positions. Don't tighten them down. You can work the balance in. You may need a bar against the bottom of the tire to move it a little so you can slip them in. A word to the wise. If these are used wedges and they have ever come loose, toss them in the scrap pile and get yourself some new ones. In the 20+ years I was in the tire business I saw folks attempt to retighten them after they came loose. I saw rims scrapped because those wedges seem to always loosen up and by the time the guys found the problem the rim was worn out. Its far easier to do with a blank rim and then remount the tire.

So i feel like i'm kicking a dead horse with these wheel wedges on the 210.
Long story short I have 3 different clamps that are suppose to fit/work for the cast centers and one of 3 is actually a little taller than the other 2 but I have been told they should work. I can't get all the nuts tightened the same on the bolts all the way around as some of them are only about half way on the bolt. Could the taller wedges be to tall to fit correctly. The taller wedges are the first ones i got for all 32 and actually got 2 wedges from two different salvage yards to see if they might be different. |

Part number for Power Shift rail clamps is 70235676. The is the same clamp for a series 4 D-17, 170, 185, 190XT, 200, 210,220 and 7040. I didn't look up anymore models for this clamp. The p/n for the non-power shift wheel clamp is 70235525 and again is the same for a 190XT-210-220-7040. Makes no difference if a 34 or 38 inch wheel. Both clamps were/are used on multiple A-C models of tractors.

Thanks Doc.
Here's my issue,I bought 32 wedges this summer from a salvage yard and 16 of one style and 16 of a different style, that's just what they sent,I didn't order 16 of one style and 16 of another style. I did get one tire clamped to the cast center but I don't think it's right because not all of the bolts are buried in the nuts, about 3-4 are and the rest are not but the tire rolls straight by checking the rotation with a straight edge. The other wedges i discovered are taller than the first ones and they do not even come close to seating on the wheel. So I called 2 other salvage yards and asked for 2 of the 35525 wedges for a stationary rim and guess what,I got 2 different style of wedges from each place and they are even different than the 32 i originally got. I'm absolutely stumped as to which of these 3 different style wedges is the correct one and yes there may be 3 different style that work,I don't know. |

I guess I trust no one on a matter like this and go to the yard and get them myself off of the wheels myself.

You got to wonder if they even came off an AC. Bubba may think wedges are wedges.

Could be true Steve since the first ones i got are half and half.
I went ahead today though and ordered just one of the 70235525 wheel clamps from agco,so I'll find out next week or I should find out which one is correct. |
