went out yesterday driving north on I-35.
134a is within range, belt is intact. Checked all fuses I could locate. Compressor clutch will not engage when pushing the a/c button on the dash. Any advise would be appreciated. This chassis is under a class A motorhome. |

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

My F350 was blowing hot air ever now and then, friend showed me a vacuum like prone to cracking, he cut about 1 inch off it and put it back on, it's worked fine since, I don't know the name of it but zap me your cell number and I'll take a picture of it and send it to you in a few, I don't know if that's your problem but if that line leaks the clutch won't come on, here's my cell 314-791-0276

My e99 F250 SD with 7.3 had the compressor drop out. Pressures all normal. One of the truck forums said to check the magnetic clutch on the compressor for shims, removed one and now A/C works all the time(only had one shim).

In reference to Show Man’s post if you can get to the compressor with the engine running tap the clutch with a hammer real quick and see if it engages, if so remove the clutch and remove shim and reinstall clutch.

first you need to measure the voltage on the wire at the clutch.. If you HAVE 12 volts and the clutch will not engage, then the AIR GAP is too big as mentioned.. If you DONT have 12 volts, there are other safety switches ( HI PSI-- LO PSI-- fuses) that the "button" sends the power to, before it gets to the clutch..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

When ignition is on, but engine is not running, the clutch doesn’t even click when pushing the a/c button.
I can see the compressor from inside the motorhome when I lift open the doghouse. |

What year chassis is this and what engine? The later fords ecm has to see engine is running before it allows the a/c compressor to.kick in.

Ok older is simpler, do as Steve suggested and check voltage, if present with key on, engine off tap the clutch and see if it locks in, if so air gap is too much and remove shim. First check fuse box there will be a fuse for the a/c, make sure it’s good.
