6 of us are heading out for the Gathering of the Orange at the Badger Steam and Gas Show in Baraboo this weekend.  We are leaving from Sand Lake, Michigan and have a three day journey.  245 miles to the showgrounds with a ferry trip across Lake Michigan.  See you at the show Friday.

We made it back home to Sand Lake, Michigan on Monday after traveling 500mile (round trip + Badger Ferry 2 ways).  Our Allis-Chalmers tractors all served us well without any problems for that trip.  Weather cooperated  with us except for us riding to the show out of Baraboo on Friday morning.  Saturday was our longest day of 116 miles back to Sheboygan with somewhat threatening skys but nothing other than sprinkles.  Thank you fellow forum member Jeff K for helping keep the forum members informed about our progress getting to Baraboo by posting updates.  Here are a few more pictures from our return home.

The first picture is an actual road not that far out of Portage.
Second picture is approaching the SS Badger in Manitowoc.
Third picture is after unloading from the Badger in Ludington
Fourth picture is what is unique about riding along lakeshore drive in Wisconsin is that some of the farm fields run right up to the Lake Michigan shoreline
Fifth picture is our arrival in Ludington just off the Badger
Sixth picture is one from my seat on the WD on some of the backroads we travel
Last picture is back home.

You guys get the butts of steel award! That’s a lot of miles at 14 mph. Glad your trip was safe and the weather cooperated. I’d say all of you did a great job of preparing and maintaining your tractors before the trip. Hats off to you. Congratulations

Someone asked about the speed we traveled.  Well the leader has a WD which per the GPS was traveling at a rate of 12.7 mph on the flat with hill climbing and the governor kicking in would hold 12 mph and down hill at 13.5.  That first 30 or so miles inland into Wisconsin from the Lake Michigan shore has some beautiful hills.  Hats off to the farmers of the region and how they farm those rolling hills.
