For those of you following my other thread, you have seen this picture before. For what ever the reason a previous owner took out the rear valve assembly and did this horrible bypass. As I look through the parts book, it shows just 1 line coming from the pump out the the side of transmission following along the side of the tractor and up to a single port oil distribution housing. The lift ram hose attaches to the bottom of it and then I’m assuming a quick connect coupler comes out the rear to feed a cylinder for say a mower. On the side of the tractor the other port{return line I believe} has a plug in it. So my question is, I found a transport valve, so is all I need to make it work is to add the second line along the tractor? Does the series 1 support that? 24587 is the serial number. I’m assuming the transport valve was a option. I’m new to the D17 so I just want to make sure I’m correct. Thanks |

Yes. Two-lines to make a transport valve work. Was available on the later WD45's. Unless you plan on using the tractor for plowing/discing and need the traction booster for weight transfer using pull type implements, it is kind of useless. You could use it without the second line and it would serve the purpose of a connection point/manifold. Plug the open hole. Good luck finding an OEM second line and the two elbows.

Thanks Doc for confirming my assumption. I have a lead on the the second line off of a parts tractor. May just go ahead and get both lines, elbows while he takes it off. Another question is can I go ahead and hook the the transport valve up to my single line for now, plug the return port on the transport valve for now so I can use it for my mower until the lines arrive? He said it may be a month or so until the parts tractor arrives. The tractor came with a 2 bottom roll over plow that needs quite a bit of work to make it operational again. I do plan to use it so the transport valve/traction booster would be handy.

Transport valve only works with pull-type/semi-mount implements, not a fully mounted plow. yes. One line will work as you want it to work.

Doc I’m sorry I overlooked your explanation before I asked the question about the single line on the transport valve and if it would work. Have no idea how I missed it. Thank you sir
