 Topic: Weight of oil?

HI! Getting ready for winter, what weight oil sould I use in my B? I usually go with a SAE 10. Would a blend be better, say 5w30? Oh yeah, snow plowing in Wisconsin.

Use a multigrade like 10-30, or 10-40. That will do you fine!

10/30 would be my choice, a good high quality oil. 10/40 just does not have the lubricity of the other in additive package. Run it year round.

I've gone to using Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 5w-40 oil in everything. It is also rated for API SL and SM gas engine use. It also has higher levels of Zinc and Phosphorous than most other oils available today. With this oil, you just leave it in year around. Are you just using it for the winter and changing in the spring? If so, use a 0w-30 or 5w-30. If you are not going to change the oil in the spring stick with 10w-30. There is not such thing as an oil to thin below 32 degrees(multigrades that is)

I put 0w-30 Mobil 1 in the CA so it is easy to start and gets lubrication to the rods ASAP since they are not pressure lubed. There is a tiny hole in the cam that registers with a hole in the rod cap. Takes some time to get oil to the rods.
