I followed a semi load of scrap tractors coming from the recently closed New Paris Tractor Parts in Elkhart County Indiana today. I was by there earlier this week, it looks like most of the stuff sold for scrap. I guess it was pretty well picked over over the years. I still hate to see all of those stories from the past going to the steel mill. Another parts yard about 10 miles away was emptied out last summer.

No that was the one that was Auctioned off last year and 90% went to scrap. They sold scrap rows in big lots and scrap dealers bought it all.

I wonder how much is going to Kalamazoo? I was at a sale back in 2018 where the gentleman owner was bidding on everything while riding around in a Gator. I talked wiih him to buy one last part. In the conversation, he told me he will pay more for "virgin" iron(meaning never been recycled). I can't compete with that.

What is sader is when someone thinks something is worth way more then it realy is and it sits  and then not worth anything but junk in the long run. Once the good parts are sold off or used to save another tractor I haul the can find anywhere parts off to scrap they just take up space for the next money maker parts tractor .

I'm pretty sure this load was going to Steel Dynamics on the west side of Fort Wayne. The feed mill I haul out of is almost next door to the steel mill and he was going that direction.

I don't disagree that stuff should be scrapped at the end, I'm just sentimental and would like to hear some of the stories attached to that iron.

It's probably been 8 years since I was at Meyer. I was looking for 28" dual rims. I don't really remember what they had now.

Our farm was 2 miles straight west of Myers Implements, I was in the same grade as the owners (KENNY) daughter , Not sure what can be done with the property/land, it's IMO an EPA super fund project due to EONS of oil/fuel/battery acid infiltrationConfused . The heirs are true millionaires as the family(the wife) invested in 1000's of acres of local farms over the years LOL

Fred is right about tractors sitting. Three tractors I was able to get had new engine rebuild parts in them. Rusted solid. I have to clean out this spring also while I am still able. 20 tractors to start with.

Fewer of the 50-80 year old "collectors" every day.. Most of the younger guys want a newer version of a tractor with more bells and whistles..The old "collectors" are going by the wayside... Will be some museums, etc... but 20 years from now it will be few and far between.........most of the "old stuff" will be headed for the scrap yard.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

What's really sad is the projects we've saved will likely end there as well when can no longer play with them.

Watch a Facebook live post of the stuff at New Paris.
No way the tractors we’re worth what a scrap person was giving to much gone and for someone to haul.

D we’re starting at 600.00 some selling up to 800.00
Not much left.

Some of the later model stuff was bought by parts people from what heard.

I wanted to go to New parris sale as we have lots of Deere stuff. But when you figure in motels and trucking it was going to be a big investment just for parts I might or might not need and with an unknown cost. Tom

It's odd that you brought them up Embarrassed !! They were 12 miles west of the farm and we got "multiple" NI corn picker parts from there in the late '70's. I don't recall any tractors in the lot though back then, LOT'S of wasps though WinkClap !! My  dad is pretty sure that lot went the same way as Myers Ouch

With Iron prices what they are I'm cleaning up some too. Getting rid of the old Iron to make room for new inventory. I hauled in a roll off last year and I'm sure 1 if not 2 will be going this year. I'm cleaning up what's left of the 20-35,25-40, A & Continental U parts. I have owned them for 12 years when I bought out Larry Swenson and who knows when he got them. At $310 for unprepared iron, it gets easier to toss it then try and sell it. it's sad to see the old iron go but I can't keep it forever.

Matt I'm just glad there are so many of you that fix up the classics, it's always great to see everyone's work here.

Across the road from New Paris Tractor is Polk Auction. They have several hundred pieces lined up outside for their upcoming sale. I wish I had time to stop yesterday when I went by.
