Hello all,

The Dr's recent cam issue got me thinking about oils; usually a hot topic I know.. I went to resupply my own Rotella T4 stock here in Ontario, Canada and NOBODY has any!

It's my preferred oil for my 426 and 301s and nearly everything else. What's a good replacement?

Thinking specifically about the zinc and other additives. I know that's a whole can of worms to open but seeing as I can't seem to buy any T4, I gotta find something else.

Is anyone running Schaeffer's?

Matt

Matt, are you allowed to buy oil on line in Canada ?  Do you have anything against that ?  Some places have free shipping if you buy  over $25  or $50. worth..

Orielly's said they could get us a 55gl drum by the middle of May (we'll see) at $17.00 per gallon. Still expensive but less than buying in jugs. We have 20gls left in our barrel so we should not run out. I was told Shell had a fire in one of their plants last fall but expect to catch up on production by summer...if you can last that long. We run Rottella in everything.
Good luck

You mean like order oil online using the internet and such? We don't do that sort of thing here in Canada, at least not during maple syrup season.

Where are you in Ontario? I am in northern NY State, about 12 miles from Cornwall. You could have oil shipped here, if you aren't far away. I know Ontario is a big province!

Crossing the border is supposed to get easier April 1.

NONE of the carriers.. FEDEX, Purolator, UPS will ship 'hazmat' products, at least not from a retail store to a customer.....

when cv19 lockdown restrictions were kinda lifted  last year I went and bought 5G pails of oils and 12 spray bombs. we're pretty open, so I'll have to restock the shop PDQ before the next variation comes

we have weird laws up here.....

This stuff says it's engineered with Shell whatever that is.

Seems like a bargain at $82 per pail.

Wonder if it's just Rotella in there?

Have you tried a truck dealership like International or Freightliner. They are usually a bit more reasonable.
Hey hoser. Where in Canada are you? I notice your ad is from Barrie store.

It's starting to show up in stores now. Should trickle across the border in a month or two I would think.

I run Schaeffers racing oil in my puller and used it on the farm.    They have excellent rep around here.

So further to my post. Where I work (int'l dealership) a pail of Chevron delo is $89.95 or 3.79 litre jugs are $24.95 each or $75 for box of 3. This was the special for this month. Parts guy said Shell was a bit more but supply now is limited. So these online places are totally ridiculous. Go to dealership or heavy truck supply place. They are not cheap either but at least try to be fair.
Oh and that is Cdn dollars.  Smile

Thanks guys, I'll give the truck centers a ring.

I've rounded up enough to get two tractors changed so should be good for spring.

I looked for the same thing Steve, nothing mentioned about zinc in that Motomaster oil.

MSDS sheet has a little info:

Safety sheet lists zinc as 0.5-1.5... which is 500-1500ppm I believe

Quite a wide spectrum there

It does say it's produced by Shell
