about anything works... Some use ATF, some use 10wt... some use Universal tractor fluid... You got the UTF in several other places.. I would stick with that.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

We uses universal tractor fluid in our Backhoe... same thing we put in the hydraulics and transmission.  Hytrans / CAT TO2/ Allis 821 / etc. ........... im sure some guys use "red" automatic trans fluid (ATF).

If you decide to use Automotive Transmission fluid (RED)... I would stick with the OLD ATF type and not the new MERCON LV or others that have a lot of ADDATIVES in them.

My 45 had red fluid. It got switched to 821 and seems fine. My end loader uses Dexron in trans (Allison)...I see where the rebuilders are recommending 15w40 oil in same trans....Who knows?

40 years ago i worked for FiatAllis Construction Division.. Big Mines had dozens of tractors. All the engines used 15W40... There was a big push to get the transmissions verified on 15w40 to standardize on the oil.... We had a couple dozers running 15w40 in the hydraulics instead of 10 or 20 wt straight oil.

Lots of trucks run 15-40 in the steering especially the construction guys (gravel haulers). With the big 445 -22.5 rubber on steers it makes the steering work pretty hard. I stuck to power steering fluid and had good luck with that over the years.

My fluid is red in my WD45 so it's ATF or cool-aid.
