Hi all

I’m restoring a 600 Allis Chalmers forklift from ground up, I have found I need to replace some snap rings which is constant section rings, I have looked up and down the internet and can’t find the size I need. It seems Allis Chalmers made their own sizes. Does anybody know where to get these?

I doubt ALLIS made snap rings....Something should be available... I would guess "SOME" generic hardware available in 1960 is not available today, but not much.

What is the size ?
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Front axle shafts has a constant section retainer size = Shaft size 2.230  Groove diameter 2.108  and width 0.160    The big bull gears ride this splined shaft and when i removed my oil pans, there was no clip on the shaft and the gears kept hitting the oil pans and wore through.   I tried AmericanRing and Smalley along with my favorite, Mc Master-carr.

Rich, im not 100% familiar with the application, but sounds like your putting and EXTERNAL snap ring into the groove of a SHAFT.... A 2-1/4 inch snap ring is basically  2.116 , so just a few thousandths bigger  than your groove depth and 1/2 of the width...(.078) ... Would it  be possible to put TWO snap rings into each groove ???

You can also use two of the standard external rings that have the EYES with HOLES... basically the same size ID and width.

I managed to find some on Mc Master-Carr but still in need of the axle retainer which is a round ring. Other rings i needed i just went with a regular snap ring, i hope that will work.

Not a big difference from a Constant section ring.
