If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice.

My Dad carried a BAR in WW2.Said it was too heavy. The HBAR is a lot lighter than the original. I believe an AR 10 would be better.

I saw that one a long time ago. He's lucky to be alive.

SLAP Rounds are for OPEN CHAMBER Weapons(Browning Ma Deuce) ONLY and without Muzzle Brakes for a Reason.  SABOT LIGHT ARMOR PIERCING. Key Word Sabot.  It splits and separates from the Slug at END of Barrel IE the Muzzle.  Muzzle Brakes are Slotted and at the Muzzle where that piece of material lodges and all hell breaks if not breaks loose.  Was NOT a Super Hot Round as nearly ALL .50 bmg rounds are Compressed Powder Loads, to make one scary use the WRONG Powder or in His case put a Sabot thru a Muzzle Brake.

In August of 1965 I was with Hco 2nd btn 4th Marines 3rd Marine Div. on Operation Starlight in Vietnam, we carried M-14's and one member of each squad had a selector that would turn that rifle into a fully automatic weapon, capable of firing 750 rounds per min. at that rate the rifle was almost uncontrol able, M-14 fired a 7.62 round similar to todays 30.06. I didn't see any reason to fire the M-14 fully automatic in a combat scene, and I still don't. If you can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger you have better control of that weapon.

Dave, I agree, shooting rounds that you don't know anything about, or a saboted round through a muzzle brake is asking for a malfunction!

I hope he learns, but sometimes life's learning curve is mortally steep!Wink

Darrel, I Had qualified M16 then M14 at Knox when was in, select fire had been converted to the same Style as M16 to Burst Fire four rounds. Much sweeter machine at that time.
