Allis 185 hydraulic pump

   We are currently working on an Allis 185 w traction control. Recently rebuilt both rear lift cylinders after the owner's brother in law blew out the seals. (think old and very brittle seals, pins seized in brackets. Alot of cursing!) 
It's now filling the crankcase with hydraulic oil! More fun and more bad news to the owner. He just handed us a ton of cash for injection pump and the cylinders.

Does anyone here have a knowledge base (AKA video or pics) on rebuilding one of these pumps. We have a fair amount of hydraulic understanding as we've also rebuilt the steering box on this and a few other pieces of heavy equipment. Local AGCO dealer wished us luck on that (LOL)

Is there any tips or tricks?  Anything to look out for before ordering a rebuild kit? Or is there something else going on with it?

One more question! As we are more geared to heavy equipment....Should the rear lift arms raise when it is first started? Even on float position and traction booster in forward position? Inquiring minds need to know!

	First things first. Just because hyd oil is getting into the crankcase, that does not mean the pump needs a rebuild. If the pump worked before, you only need to replace a gasket and seal where the pump mounts to the timing cover. Based on what you have described, I am quite certain that the pump doesn't need a rebuild. Next: hydraulics going up when the tractor starts is not normal. The mechanical linkage under the console and platform is stuck somewhere and is putting pressure on the traction booster valve. There are 3 pivot points in that linkage. If even one is seized it will cause problems. Check each of those pivot points by hand - Not by moving the levers on the console! If each point moves freely, make sure the valve is not stuck in the pushed in position. These are the cheapest fixes your customer will have to deal with.

	Are you absolutely sure you don't have injection pump shaft seals leaking FUEL into the crankcase oil ????????????????????

	I just went out to give the oil a good feel and sniff test. I'm going to say not fuel. With how much transferred into the crankcase it would be "red" from the fuel also. Very light oil viscosity, slightly discolored from engine oil. Tractor only was run about 10 minutes and its almost dribbling out of dipstick tube. Much thanks for the heads up on fuel as was a good point being it just had a fresh rebuilt pump (new seal was used)

	Fresh rebuild pump is a good sign that it is diesel fuel, rolled seals when pump was put on. MACK

	Not a rolled seal. it's been verified that it's hydraulic oil. Will keep ya'll posted as the tractor is on the back burner waiting for owner to decide what he wants done.
