Hello everyone.

Long term lurker and now new to this forum.  Big fan of AC since a kid and just tripped over a dream of an old big tractor.

AC 7060 maroon belly powershift.  I bought it knowing PS needs an overhaul.  What is the best shop east of the Mississippi to rebuild it.  I mean just the transmission, I can split the tractor and remove it if that is something a shop would accept.  Alternately any shop with in say 300 miles of Atlanta that rebuilds Powershifts - I could send the whole tractor.

The story on the tractor is it sat in a barn for about 15 years and then in a field for 2. Power steering works, wants to move in lower gears in high range, no PTO but noise from PTO standing by it outside.  Lift not raising.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like more than one problem . If won't try to move in lo range, cables and linkage need some attention .
Gerotar pump could be bad causing transmission not to pull.
Piston pump could need some attention to make PTO and 3 pt work.
I suppose both oil levels are OK.
Could be a lot of other problems causing ides not to work. Don't pull it out until hydraulic problems are taken care of.            MACK

Thank you.

I have a 7040 OM and a 7080 OM, (from my youth).  I only see in the manual and the tractor itself, the dip stick on the floor by the remote valve adjustment.  Where is the second check point for the hydraulic system?

Hydraulic oil is checked with sight glass left side of PTO housing just behind axel housing. Screw bottom sight glass to make sure. Clean inside of glass while you have it out. Fill plug on top of rear end housing, just to right of center.            MACK

Thank you very much.  I thought about it over night and figured that must be it.  l'm headed over there to pay the guy tonight and I will look at that.  I did check to see that fill plug was sealed/no moisture in it so fingers crossed.

You buy that tractor off marketplace? There was one somewhere in Georgia needing Powershift rebuilt (It’s gone now)I kept looking at it looked like a decent tractor just to much of a hike for me.

Probably.

I looked at it for weeks and weeks and decided to bite the bullet.  It looked rusted through where the mold didn't grow.  It looks  much better in person.  Down here you find worn out 3020s, britich Internationals and 8Ns.  No real big AG tractors from back in the day.  I considered hauling one from the Midwest but by the time you get it here, (12K at best) make two rounds and figure out you need 8K in repairs, it is hard to justify to the wife.  I decided to buy local junk, put the 8k in it and be ahead.  Maybe.

That tractor fires right up and sounds like nothing else!  (It is straight piped).  I want to put it on a 14 ft discbine.  On these hills, it wont slide much.
