Bought a 1"X6' this morn at Home Depot . Tag says Made in Sweden . This seems CRAZY to me .

Maybe the logs came from Canada then were shipped to Sweden for processing into boards!

I bought a few sheets of 1/2 inch CDX plywood last week... $30. each... was $19. a year ago.

im sure that we are increasing supplies from Asia.. but surpass Canada ? they were supplying 80% just a couple years ago.... got references ?

So how come the Lumber Racks at Home Depot are still 2X4, 2X6, 2X8 ?

cause a 2x4 is still 1.5 x 3.5 inches....... BIG 'fun' up here is thicknesses of sheetgoods( 'plywood' ) 1/2" plywood is 12.5mm thick OR you can buy it .500 thick
what has changed is the length ! an 8' 2by4 will be 96" +maybe a 1/4" ar most ! Hopefully NOT less than 96" though you MUST measure !!

Yeah, I'm not sure, I definitely see what you're saying. Have also "heard" that the Asians actually process logs into lumber on ships not too far into international waters. Get logs shipped from Canada to the processing ships, send lumber back. And it's cheap, and not too environmentally sound, etc. etc. Have to look into it again.

The log pipeline from Canada shut off?  Anybody have a portable bandsaw? Is it something you like? Friend of mine had one, saw'd thousands of feet of logs. I had a couple of good straight Walnut logs i cut and stored for several years. He didn't want to cut dry logs. My darn back is so bad I probably couldn't operate 1 anyhoo.

years ago i wanted to do a project using log look alike boards, i checked with a local mill and several other places, finally had a Canadian company deliver right to my door a semi load of those type boards i wanted...cheaper than i could have had them milled in my hometown.

friend in NY state reshingled his house. IKO shingles were CHEAPER in NY than in Ontario, where they were made !
