January 1st, 1973.......The Allis-Chalmers One-Ninety diesel, remained in production through January of 1973 with 23 units being built...serial numbers 31118 - 31140

The poor mighty One-Ninety....in 1970 they only sold 74......1971 they sold 76......1972 they sold 73.   The new model 200 tractor I believe was released in Jan of 1972 and they made 2339 units that full year.

Is that the straight 190? Weren't there more late model xt's then that? Or is that all of them?

One-Ninety (75 to 77 HP) and One-Ninety XT (90 to 94 HP) are two different models.  It appears that the Crop Hustler 185 (74 HP) took away many One-Ninety sales. It was cheaper and lower to the ground for a handier all-around unit.

I sold my 190 to my brother. They are a nice tractor, maybe not able to do utility jobs as well as a 185 but a better ride and more operator friendly than the 185. I'm sure price was a big factor as to why the low numbers. What's different between a 190 and 190XT? Turbo and engine oil cooler and fuel setting is about it. I should look at my old Equipment Guide books to check the price difference between a 190 and the 190XT,

Oddly enough, the One-Ninety’s production began with 1502 units built in 1964. It offered a G2500 75hp gas or 2800 77hp diesel. NO XT units that year.

Then in 1965, AC also began offering the XT version, but it upped its gas to the 90hp G2800, the 85hp G2800 LP engine’s and increased it diesel to the 94hp turbo 2900. That year alone, AC built 4,293 XT units!

Ending it production years in 1972 & 1973, the One-Ninety was again the ONLY version AC built, with 73 & 23 respectively.

I find it odd we never see these late 190D tractors. The one we had that dad bought new in 70 was the only late model one I've ever seen, and it's been almost 40 years since we sold out. Anyone know of any of these last ones around? They were great tractors, not enough power to hurt themselves.

My dad and uncle bought a Series 3 XT 190 "Landhandler" brand new in 72. We still have it today. It pulled a 2300 18' disk for years with saddle tanks. 18.4x34's with duals. Bought a brand new 200 in 74 but the XT was the main tillage tractor. After the purchase of the 8050 in 85, the XT was "retired" from field work. So we put a 500 loader on it and it became the feed grinding, manure loading tractor. It became the orphan, run it an hour or 2 every day and not get the maintenance it should. We have replaced the motor and have swapped out rear ends but the serial number is original. If I ever get the chance, I'll restore it. I had no idea the XT sales numbers were that low.

The 200 replace the 190/190XT in 1972.  Per my sales mgr , Felix Patterson,  the 190's produced after the 200 production began were high clear units sold mostly to Cane Equip, J&L and another in south La - a dealer in Fla and a few to the west coast.
Anyone have any other info than this ?  They never produced a high clear 200.

A total of 4,726 One-Ninety units built(1964-1973). A total of 22,419 XT units built(1965-1971).

The post is about straight 190's, not the XT. XT was what, 10:1 over straight 190?

Yea, I can't think of more than a handful of 190's and they were all series 1, and some even had a turbo added lol! Never have seen another series 2 style 190 other than the one we had. Most wanted the added power the XT offered! Dad bought the 190 new in 1970, still have the invoice inside the back page of the brochure. That tractor ran and ran, and I started driving it at 7 years of age. He bought a used XT S2 a couple of years later, and that thing was always broke down. Hired help from south of the border probably didn't help. He did end up trading the XT for a new 7000 in 76. The mighty one nighty just kept going. Wasn't really big enough for what we needed by the late 70's.

I remember seeing a late 190 at an auction once when I was probably a teenager or in my early 20's. If I remember right it had the Landhandler decal on it. Am I remembering correctly?

That's a good question, Lonn.  AGCOPARTSBooks doesn't show anything, but if they had 200 rear end cases assembled thru the differential, why couldn't they have just bolted on the hi-clearance final drive and all its other related parts ??  The 200 rear end case was different than a 190 or 190XT as was the ring and pinion gear set. So, if they kept the 190 parts true to the model, everything would have been different between the 200 and 190 hi-clear…...

My money would be on they used up the remaining 190 parts since 200 was different. A 190 without turbo didn't need the upgraded components.

You'd wonder, wouldn't you. Trouble with that theory (for the last 2 yrs- 150 units) would be where would you store all that obsolete stuff?? Most Factory's don't have excess room as it is. I had a brand new 175 diesel delivered to me back in the mid 70's that was missing the ring gear on the flywheel. They didn't have a place to work on it or the manpower to fix it, so send it to the Dealer as-is.

just dug out my original brochure with the invoices still paper clipped in back page. They hardly promoted the 190 at all, every picture but one is an XT. The 190D was 6317 with stolper cab, and 2042# of weights, but I remember the rear weights being rowe. Don't see serial number anywhere here. Invoice is dated 3-26-70.

Now I've got to make a goal in life to find a late 190. I'm pretty sure I remember that one at auction with a Landhandler decal. I bet several had a turbo added and if ever painted they got XT decals. Maybe they have been amongst us and we just never looked.

I remember in 1976 trying to buy a 190, don't remember the year of tractor but at the time was too much money for me.  It was a diesel, ended up with 706 IH  gas.
1945 C, 1949 WF and WD, 1981 185, 1982 8030, unknown D14(nonrunner)

Doc, when we went to the disposal sale of the tractor plant in MKE we saw tubs of snap coupler parts and they were old.  In fact I bought a tub of upper snap coupler halfs and another dealer bought the lower half.  After the sale I started moving the lower to the upper and vice versa so we each could have a lifetime supply - the dealer's wife (German name withheld) came and proceeded to go almost postal. I tried to explain that either was useless w/o the other when the husband came up - I thought great now we can deal - to my surprise he said he would call the law if I didn't put the stuff back.  I told him - "look sir, I will fix this issue - you can have them BOTH!"  When I left they were putting the parts back .... guess it is true - you can't fix stupid.

I got in on buying some stuff around Thanksgiving time of 1985. I think I heard about it from John Rosendahl or Joe Dewane. Anyway, I had a truckload of stuff that I thought was a good deal, but didn't see what Tbran was talking about.

AC had a sale at the tractor plant - It was a dealer only special invite.  Deutz Allis had to bid against the dealers for parts.  There was a representative from Batavia parts who had a couple of assistants  with a ton of paper inventory sheets.  They bought about a third of the parts I would guess.  Some things dealers would not buy that AC parts did.. I became agitated with one dealer who ran up the bid and bragged "I made them pay for that".  I explained to him if he needed one of those rare parts he just cost himself big money.  I owe Homier Equipment - Bill big time as he assisted me in transportation arrangement of which I was clueless.   We bought 2 truck loads of high clear 7000 tractor parts that went to La. then back to Ind. years later to the Hunleys.
